Group B Strep Positive :-(

Just got my GBS test results... I'm positive!! I'm freaking out now, knowing that this could cause infection in my baby girl during labor!!

Any other preglies out there been positive for GBS in this or earlier pregnancies? Was your baby ok? How can I keep from worrying too much?

    I'm gbs positive and my midwife says that only 1% of babies get sick and the reason they test us is to treat is and look for warning signs the baby may have it.

    @mpmommy... That's very reassuring. My doc told me the test is just so they know to give penicillin during labor, but she didn't mention how low the risk is. Thanks!

    I tested positive too. Found out last thursday, but its better to know than not knowing all!!

    I tested positive as well. It just means I will receive antibiotics during labor. there is a very very small chance that it will get your baby sick. don't worry mama.

    I was positive when I had my son. They usually like for u to come in when when ur dialated to like a 4 or 5 so they can give u 2 bags of the medicine. Will going off what happened to me. But for me they were only able to get me threw 1 bag cuz I progressed way to fast for the second bag to be given to me. And me son is now 9 wks old and as healthy as can be! So ladies don't stress u will do fine, and good luck with ur bundles of mircales the are soon to be here :)

    as long as you get your antibiotics during labor your baby should be fine hun :)

    I tested positive with my last pregnancy. I was given meds through my IV & delivered a healthy baby boy. :-)

    @bettymomma same here, they just give you a different type of antibiotics just make sure they know you're allergic to penicillin! :)

    I was gbs positive and they gave me antibiotics through an iv 3 times during labor and everything was fine. My little girl came out perfect! They did keep us at the hospital for 2 days for monitoring.

    I'm gbs positive & also allergic to penicillin. I got the meds during labor & Aydrian was born healthy as can be. She's 19 days old & still healthy.

    Dont stress over it. I'm on baby number 3 and I've been positive with all.

    I was told.its normal to test positive. I had mine on Friday. I'll know my results next Monday.

    i was gbs+ and i was not paranoid at all. i just knew i needed some IV antibiotics before i delivered and that was that. no big deal.

    This trhead reminded me to go check my results I just swabbed on Wednesday. Checked don't have it but I did with my son and they gave me the meds and he was perfectly fine. They tricked me with the damn iv that's how they slipped me something for the pain ugh pitocin! But they won't trick me this time lol! You ladies will be fine just get the meds and forget about it ever being metioned because I did once I became active.

    I didn't read all the comments, so forgive me if I'm repeating someone! Lol :)
    I tested positive for GBS, and kinda freaked out because I didn't know anything about it. I asked my doctor, and he said it's really not anything to worry about, unless it went undetected & untreated. The only thing that's going to be different, is that during labor & delivery, every 4 hours they're gonna be giving my antibotics to help combat it, and there's a VERY slim chance that anything would happen to the baby. I feel better knowing about it & being proactive. You & baby will be fine! :) Don't stress yourself about it, it's just a little bump in the road!
