BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS/YEAST INFECTION

Hello to all mama's out there.. I have some questions to as, has anybody here had yeast infection while they are pregnant? Coz last friday I had an appointment and I asked the midwife about vaginal discharge and she look at it at the microscope to see if im positive with yeast infection,and then she said that I was..she also explained that it was very common/rare to all pregnant women.And she recommend me a medication about my infection,the thing is the antibiotic that she gave me was a METRONIDAZOLE..and i've searched on the google about it's side effects. I was shocked with what was I saw on the google,and now I'm afraid to continue taking that antibiotics.And I also dont like the taste of it.Can anybody help me if i had to continue or not,to those who had yeast infection also while they're pregnant.

    I just had my very first yeast infection thanks to my pregnancy. I was on a 3 day course of Terconazole. I was also told to use Dove Sensitive Skin on my lady parts. Everything went GREAT and I feel so much better.

    @oregonmama, my doctor wouldn't let me use any over the counter. She said the alcohol content was too high & it might irritate my cervix. But I am high risk & I guess she wasn't taking any chances lol

    I'm confused as to why you would be on antibiotics for a yeast infection. Yeast infections are fungal, and very common during pregnancy. An antibiotic would only make the fungal infection worse as it kills the bacteria meant to control the yeast.

    Metronizadole is used to treat bacterial vaginosis! So did u hve both @nhajo

    @preggomommyof4—yes, i was using the METRONIDAZOLE..as my ob prescribed to me. And i really really dont like its metallic taste.it makes me vomit..

    @gatorbob-so it means its very safe for me and to my baby? I will try to call my obgyn to ask about metronidazole, and to ask if she can recommend me another medicine,coz this makes me feel sick and vommit.

    How far are you? TAKE IT. I had a bv case and didn't find out for months, it got worse and worse until I finally realized there was something up down there.

    If she knew you're pregnant, and still prescribed it, you will be fine

    @nhajo im takin it now n yes it taste awful but bv is annoying to me so I hve to suck it up n take it lol! Ask ur ob for clindymycin it also treats bv r ask for the jel form of metronazadole!

    Metronidazole isn't used to treat a yeast infection. It is however used to treat bacterial vaginosis. Did you have BV too?
    Of course, there are side effects and risks but don't worry. Metronidazole is considered safe during pregnancy.

    I've had 2 yeast infections and a bladder infection since I got prego! They just put me on antibiotics for the rest of my pregnancy. I take 1 capsule of microbid (not sure if spelling is correct) a day

    @ashes- i was asking my obgyn,if she can recommend me some other medicine for my BV. Im already 27 weeks and 1day now.
    @preggomommyof4- yes,i asked her if there's a gel of metronidazole.
    @loveourlittleone- yep, i have BV too. This sucks! Y do pregnant women have to suffer all kinds of illness while we are pregnant.
    @carsons_mommy- yes, i had urinary tract infection before on my first trimester, but it was gone now. Being pregnant is so complicated..i hate it!!
