Anyone else still working at 39 weeks?

edited August 2011 in Third Trimester
I'm 39+1 weeks today and I am exhausted! I've seen so many already stop working by now and wondering if there are any other mothers out there still working too? How are you doing it? I work at an office so it's not too bad, but it's all about making numbers and its getting harder to concentrate or even care! I have until this Friday as my last day here and I"m due this Sunday!! August 28th. I tried to get out earlier, but my doc put it like I could have more time with my son or time at home- jeez. So just curious if I'm the only one working up until 2 days before I'm due.

  • Guess if you're working you can't be on Pregly! Ha! Yeah, I'm on and I should be working- that's how much interest I have in keeping up appearances! Ok, so no one else is working this long. Boo. Lucky ladies.
  • God bless you lol...I'm37 weeks, still working full time and ready to die...I have the same kind of job...and I can't focus to save my life lol
  • Ha! Thank you! I thought I was the only crazy one to keep up with work at this time. Yes, I agree I so want to die and I get more and more pissed each day that every single damn person says, "You're still here?? You didn't have your baby?" I'm going to start to get nasty if they keep up with those stupid questions. Grrr.
  • I work in a pharmacy and it was hard to concentrate..like counting pills. I worked the whole time i was due julu 30 sat..had her fri 29th.was supppsed to work that day went to hospital at 6am with contractions every 2-3 min..hang in there!
  • Im,still working ugh at work on lunch now! Shoot me!
  • @pink413 I used to work in retail pharmacy...if your job is anything like mine was I don't know how you did it. A lot of my co-workers worked while pregnant, too #:-s Luckily, I got out of there before I got pregnant.

I'm 33+3 and I'll be working until my little boy decides he is ready!
  • IM STILL WORKING! Im 32+2 & working a full time job! 40 hrs a week & plan on working til im due so the 8 weeks of maternity leave i do hav i can keep until i hav the baby & use them! I have an office job & im very greatful for it however im miserable & ready to hav my son! :)
  • I am crazy too! I will be 38 weeks tomorrow yay! And my due date is the 6th with my last day being the 4th. I would of worked til I pop but I have jury duty on the 6th. I hate when people say stuff like that oh you are still here?? No baby yet?? Like duh you see me standing here I have just stopped telling people when I am due I just tell them I have 2 weeks of work left less questions that way. I work in a busy resturant too and I am getting so sick of all my co workers thinking my water is gonna break. They all swear they are gonna get to be the one to deliver the baby.
  • I'm still working I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. I know how you feel about focusing and caring lol I can't focus and I don't care I work with a telemarketing company and I'm not going back I would just up and leave but I have been there for four years and just up and leaving would make me look bad lol but I finished my school so now I can get a real job.:-)
  • @socialMOMMA2boys- I so hear you. I never should have told anyone my due date. Now I put on headphones all day so that I don't have to hear their stupid comments. I get really aggrevated now, maybe it's hormonal, but I can't stand their questions anymore.
  • @honeybunny- dang that is tough. I've done telemarketing and God bless you! That is tough to stay focused on right now. Good luck! @pink413 oh my gosh! I really hope my son waits until at least the weekend. Well actually I really hope I don't go into labor here. That would be so horribly embarrasing. Especially in this office environment.
  • Im 38 wks and still working!! I work retail so by the end of the day my feet are KILLING me!! I just finished a physics 2 class at college too so I'm officially over everything that requires thinking it moving lol! Not much longer tho n I can rest with my lil man!
  • thinking *or moving
  • I'm due Oct. 15 and my last day of work is Oct. 14. It can't come soon enough! So ill know how u feel in a few weeks lol
  • Im 38 and 5 days and im still working.... It makes my days go by quicker but im so tired
  • I was wrking untill 2 weeks ago because i just cant walk n e more.. i broke my hip 3 years ago and fractured the other one.. i wanted to wrk untill my due date wich is sept 18 but i just couldnt walk as fast as i need to at wrk.. i was a server at a hotel and we get busy and i usually wrk alone so i didnt want to be in pain and making guest wait because i cant walk fast enough
  • @lala123 oh boy! Now that makes sense on getting out of work early. I try to walk a lot a work instead of sitting all day- my pelvic bones would cry. It does take me about 8 steps to start walking normal- not waddling. I don't have to walk all day here or I would be in trouble! My doc also said @lovemylife11 that working does make the days go faster instead of being home just staring at the clock. I don't know though. I can't remember the last time I was bored at home- there is always something to do, clean, work on, etc. So at least I have 4 more days till freedom and 6 days till 40 weeks.
  • I'm not at 39 weeks (inching up to 34 this week), and I'm still working full-time and plan on it until 39 weeks (or less if she arrives sooner), so you're not alone. ;)
  • Yea i was really sad when i couldnt walk beacuse i knew it meant i couldnt wrk any more.. i was actually getting verry good tips because of the pregnancy.. lol and i am going crazy being alone in the house all the time because i am so used to working
  • im only 31 weeks but im gonna work till I cant no more I dont have any kind of leave because I work for the government..i work at a child development center with 8 infants its already getting hard to do everything because its such an active job that forces me to get up and down off the ground constantly...plus they use my belly as a drum (most of them are 10/11 months) plus lifting all of them for hourly diaper changes really takes a toll...my co worker worked up untill the day she gave birth....there are still some of us working
  • You are so brave! I have an office job too, but it's high volume quality control w/ lots of stress included coming & doing. I can still do my job pretty well though (I'm kind of a workaholic). I'm 36.5wks. This Fri will be my last day so I officially start my mat leave at 37wks. I'm ready to relax or nest more lol. Good luck!
  • @lala123 gotta love the symptathy tips. I will bummed if I go back after baby and make less.
@edubsbaby I hope its horomonal I am the same way. I hate when customers tell me I need to slow down. Or they give me back a plate and warn me its heavy like duh I know I brought all 5 of them to your table at once. I even got a complaint that I rolled my eyes the other day opps. I think sitting down would be worse than moving like I do. I have hard time standing still or sitting for awhile.
  • I applaud you all!! I will go on maternity leave at 35 week (just over 6 week to go, yippee!). I work 10 hour night shifts 5 nights a week and I'm on my feet constantly so couldn't see myself working past then. I also get 9 months off so want time to relax and enjoy my family as it is now (just me my bd and our 2yr old boy) before we get another addition :)
