Achilles' Heel
Sometimes I feel my son's little feet and knees pushing on or near my ribs. I always think "aw, its Achilles' Heel!" A lot of people who don't like that I'm naming him Achilles say that phrase will haunt him his entire life. It's too bad that the hero of the Iliad is now associated with weakness, but I'm not naming my son after a tendon or a weakness. I'm naming him after a badass hero!
Just wanted to share that
it turned into a little rant, but whatever.

I actually made him a mohawk hat
I love the name Minerva! I met a girl in college named Athena. Then there's that reporter named Aphrodite Jones. Aretha (as in Aretha Franklin) is a Greek name too, actually. I think that ancient Greek names should make a comeback!
I'm definitely gonna post pics of him in it on Pregly after he's born. It's just way too cool!
Me too! Hahah! I'm so ready for him but I'm not due til September 12th!

*facepalm* People are dumb. Hopefully people won't think I named Achilles after Brad Pitt when he was in Troy. I've never seen the movie! I read the Iliad in high school and some poetry about Achilles in college. That's when I decided on the name.
My husband thinks I'll deliver a little early. I was 10 days early and he was a month early, so maybe Achilles will be too. I haven't had any contractions or bloody show or anything yet, do I'm not getting my hopes too high.
Same here. Ancient mythology is so fascinating! I've always loved reading about ancient cultures. I think I started with Egypt when I was 8 and went from there.

There are lots of ancient Greek names on baby name sites. It would be cool if they did start becoming more popular!
