how do you keep your newborn entertained?

edited September 2011 in Babies
Other than talking or singing, how do you keep your newborn occupied/stimulated? My daughter is 4 wks old and is starting to have periods of time where she just lays awake looking around. I feel like that's gotta be pretty boring lol. So what do you use? A swing? A bouncer? One of those play mats with the toys hanging down? Something else?? I have a swing but I have yet to get batteries for it lol. Just curious what everyone does and what your baby likes.

  • Mine definitely doesn't need simulation. She needs to be entertained. We bounce, swing, stroll. Go from room to room all day long. Her favorite is to lay on my bed and watch ceiling fan.
  • @salsabia that's what I meant, entertained lol I could not think of that word, I think I still have left over prego brain lol
  • Brain gets worse now. Sleep deprivation takes over. Mine is 4 months old but 9 weeks premature. I haven't slept in 4 months. she only weighs 9 lbs so basically I got a newborn.

@salsabia lol I know what you mean. I barely slept the last month I was pregnant, and now sleep is like some fairy tale thing that exists far far away in some magical land I can only dream of lol. My daughter is a preemie too, only 4 weeks early though. I was due Sept 6th, had her August 5th.
