prayers for carson city, NV
yesterday a man went into an IHOP with an ak47 and started a rampage shooting. he hit 11 victimes -- 5 national guard members and 6 civilians. so far 5 deaths confirmed(3 national guard, 1 civilian and the shooter who took his own life) and the remaining victims are clinging to life. there were families, children, employees, soldiers. and he fired at all of them. 11 victims is 11 too many, but thank the lord his aim was so bad he didn't hit more in a restaurant packed with people. its reported that he even fired a continuous wall of bullets as he spun in a circle.
as I'm typing this, I'm watching a live press conference where they are releasing names of the deceased vicims and answering questions, and i just listened to the 911 calls. u can hear people screaming, crying, and gunshots in the background. its heartbreaking. the most painful part i believe is the family of the gunman. they lost a son, but they also have to live with the fact that he killed other peoples children, parents, sisters, brothers. they, nor anybody at this point, knows why he did this. there is some talk of mental illness. but he wasn't angry, wasn't upset prior to the rampage, didn't display and signs of this to come. and the family of the victims will never know why.
Senator Harry Reid's statement about the Carson City shooting: " I’m deeply saddened by this I’m deeply saddened by this senseless act and extend my sympathies to those afflicted this morning. I applaud the first responders for their professionalism, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time."

Today, I went to Costco and passed the restaurant. The windows are all boarded up and the building fenced off. The cleaning team was there and there was an officer outside throwing up. I instantly got upset. I have heard that the building will be bulldozed and turned into a memorial site. Which I think would be best. I couldn't imagine ever walking into that restaurant again.
I am absolutely terrified to take my children out in public anymore due to events like this. I posted on this just yo kind of let my feelings out about the situation, just because my brain is still confused and on shock.
