  • I had this purple stuff for my sin and I had to take a pill. So that we were being treated at the same time. Did you talk to the pediatrician? Maybe they can give you both a prescription. Or a lactation consultion
  • Purple stuff for my son*
  • As long as your both on something you should keep nursing.

You can buy gentian violet at the drug store. You can put it on your nipples as well in babies mouth. However it does stain so be careful with clothing. Put a bib on baby. With my daughter it took 3 months to get rid of her thrush. But I still breast fed her. The doctor said some babies are more prone to getting thrush and is harder to get rid of it. My son had it too. He's 9 weeks now but we did Nystatin and it didn't keep it gone, then at 5wks they gave him diflucan oral medicine and cleared it up. It's gone and hopefully it'll stay gone for good. @Maggy18
  • @ melinda326 Ima go to da pharmacy tomorrow to get dat Hopfuly it works
  • Yes you can. Just wash your nipple off before and after feedings. A mixture of 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to 8 ounces of water will do the trick. Oh, and earth mama angel baby's bottom balm, apply after feedings and wash it off before feeding.
I'm not going to lie, it hurts. But I've been washing my nipple with the vinegar solution for 2 days and I am seeing results.
  • @melinda326 nystatin usually doesn't work because it contains sugar which makes yeast infections worse. :/
  • @marysue yea I know, but that's what they started out using first. With my first son whos 15 now had thrush as a baby and Nystatin worked wonders for him. But my last two had it as newborns, it didn't work as well. It got rid of it but as soon as the medicine was done it came back. Diflucan worked wonders and had quick results too. I did the vinegar solution too.
  • @melinda326 the vinegar solution has worked best for me. I went through like 2 prescriptions of nystatin before questioning it. Haha,
  • @marysue I hate thrush. I'm glad it's working for you, the vinegar. I wish we didn't have to deal with that, we have enough to worry about than dumb ol' thrhey. :)
  • I hate it soooo much. :(
It's like you can alter your diet then I read what you had to cut out and I thought to myself that it would be my whole diet! Haha
    @melinda326
  • @marysue tell me about. Lol. Your little boy is so cute. What's his name? My son is 9 wks& his name is Liam.
  • @melinda326 awwwww thank you! You're little boy is super adorable too:). His name is Viktor, and he'll be 7 weeks tomorrow.
  • @marysue well he's just precious. I know your a proud momma. How much did he weigh at birth? Mine was 9.5. He was a big boy. Lol.
  • 9.11. :| Haha, he didn't descend so they had to take him. :/ @melinda326
  • Eat yogurt also. Make sure it has live cultures or active cultures. That's good for thrush also. I just thought of this. :)
  • @marysue wow! He was big too. My 2yr old was 9.7 and I managed to have both of them completely natural. They both came in my 38th week, man if I went longer they would've been 10 pounds easily. I guess I just make big babies. :D. How much does he weigh now. 2 wks ago mine was 11 lbs even, he seems smaller than my 2 year old at that age. I'm hoping he won't grow too fast. Lol. I wanna enjoy the small stages. Did you heal well from your c-sec.
  • @melinda326 I was 40+4. He weighed 9.9 at his one month. I did heal well:). It was difficult, but it was best in the end. :) how did you heal? I wanted a natural birth so much.
  • @ marysue how do u do da vinegar solution
  • You just get a bottle, mix together a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 8 ounces of water and then take a q-tip and apply it on the affected area. It's safe for baby so no need to wash it off unless the baby just won't latch with it on. Also let your girls get plenty of air and change breast pads often.
  • @marysue I actually had of no tears or anything, which was great. I kinda felt like I hadn't had baby down there. Recovery was so much better than my first 3 babies who I did tear with and they were smaller than my last 2 babies which were my 9 pounders. I tear with the first 3 and not with my last 2. Weird, maybe i was stretchier, lol. Either way it made recovery so much easier. Are you plannig to have more. Id love more if i can get hubby on board with it. Lol.
  • @melinda326 I would love more and we plan on having at least one more, just do not know when. I miss being pregnant.
