I'm conflicted as to how to feel about them. Part of me feels like MTV is trying to glorify teen pregnancy. The other part of me feels sorry for the girls and their kids. Opinions?
I feel the same way. With my first baby I was a teen mom and hell, these girls have it so easy. Its not. I just hope it doesn't make young women think that its ok to get pregnant so young. Hey accidents happen, but don't plan it on purpose tho
I dont even feel a little bit sorry for them! They had sex and new the risks its their fault. Unless they were a victim of rape then thats a little different.
Im a teen mom and I think the show gives everybody that can relate I intake on what it is like and will be like it also saves you from making some mistakes that they made...i love the show and I hope there payinh them for sharing there struggles babies are not cheap
I feel it is like any other reality show on tv... They dont show everything and show a range of different situations... Not all the teens in the show have it easy... Also if a teen is watching mtv they r seeing other crap just as bad if not worse then yeen mom... If u dont like it dont watch if parents concerned they can block mtv.
I love the shows, personally, I think it shows its not easy being a teen mum, nothing will stop teens getting pregnant but it helps show that u may love ur bf and think ull be fine but it doesent always end that way, and that collage/school is hard after a baby and its not cheep, I was a teen mum and I carried on with school and working full time, and wish there was something on telly back then like that xxx
If they woulda asked me to do the show and pay me when I was 15 and preggo I woulda said hell yea! Woulda put the money towards college, car, baby, apt. Woulda been a huge help!
I like watching the shows because I feel for the girls on their and their struggles. I think it was someone on here who posted something about they had read an article about 13 year old girls planning to get pregnant to be on the show but who knows if thats true. It isn't always pretty happy family on the show and I think that could give young viewers some perspective on preventing getting pregnant.
I'm in my 20's and I'm terrified of having a baby so I can't imagine what it would be like being a teenager with limited resources and going thru it. I know when I was that age all I thought about was myself and having a good time so I'm glad I didn't put myself or a baby thru the drama of being a teenager.
Wow if they are getting that kind of money for real then baby and college are sorted. That might explain why they are able to get their own apartments as I keep noticing lately. Interesting....
Besides I used to go around and speak to freshman health classes about my story being a teen mom and some girls really appriciated it. I did it for free. Educating young men and women is key. I got zero education in that dept. Before I got preggo. Parents need to talk early and often about the subject along with drugs.
@mspregger6989 I, like you, am on my mid twenties and am beyond terrified of having a baby for several reasons. Up until the second that first test came back positive, I had that "it's all about me" attitude. I was my only responsibility and I loved it. In my teenage years, it was that much worse. Obviously, my life has changed, but I still feel like I have a lot of growing up to do before I give birth. Some of the girls on the shows act like babies, with babies. It's sad. I saw a preview of the next show earlier. One of the girls was being yelled at for being high... all I could do was shake my head.
I feel bad for the girls but they did get themselves to that point, I also dont understand why mtv is glorifying this, I mean some of the girls have very wealthy parents so the whole thing is like lalaland for them with thier fathers paying thier rent and they dont have to work! That is not real life for 90% of teans who get pregnant, its hard work and its a struggle especially if all u have is yourself to rely on.
It makes good t.v. lol nothing about that show i think is real what 16 year old girl can afford nice everything (cars, houses, clothes,) oh and daycare goodness that's shit is expensive
@hupe23_1 I worked 2 jobs had a baby went to school I paid for everything plus rent to my parents. Then went on and was a single mother with 2 kids for the past 10 years trust me its possible I did it.
I don't watch the show. But, random tidbit I read on a magazine cover, one of the teen moms is apparently using her exposure from the show to jumpstart her career in porn. Didn't read the magazine or article, but it sounds ridiculous enough to me that I wouldn't be surprised if it's true.
They should make a real show about it... not a reality show.
I sometimes feel bad for what some of the girls have to go through, but it is a learning lesson for alother teens. I love how they show different situations and I have to admit it makes some addicting !
I admit that it is one of my guilty pleasures to watch that show...but whenever I watch 16 and pregnant all I can think is that these girls need to spend more time getting their GED and less time worrying about how they look in maternity clothes or who is gonna throw them a baby shower! You know that these girls hardly ever finish HS so the best way to spend those 9 months would be to get their GED (but that thinking would require a brain which they either dont have or dont use because they are a teenage mom..) And as far as Teen Mom goes I am always yelling at the tv trying to tell these girls that they need to drop their dead beat baby daddy and just worry about themselves and their child! You dont need to have a dad in your childs life to make it better! Hell I have a sperm donor who is as dead beat as they come and I def could have gone my whole life with out him! Just because society tells you that the only way a child can grow up whole is with a mom and dad doesnt mean thats how it has to work for you! I wish these girls would think for themselves!...but again that would require a brain and they obviously arent currently useing theirs...
**I will say that was a pregnant rant...and not all pregnant teens are like this....but the majority I have met are...**
