ugh should i have it removed? maybe tmi

Ok so my daughter will be 4 months on the 30th..6 weeks after she was born I went in and had the meraina (sp?) A week before I went in I had stopped bleeding from giving birth then I got it put in spotted for a week n then had constant bleeding for a month like heavy (but not heavy enough to concern the doc) it stopped for a week I then got horrible cramps for the last week the doc says its normal for some women but its really a pain in my as since I have only not bled for two weeks in the last almost 4 months should I tough it out, doc says it should get better, or just have it taken out n get on the pill? Has anyone else experienced this?

    I experienced all that for 2 years kept thinking eventually it would stop but it never did. I bleed all the time & when i wasnt bleeding I was spotting or in pain. I hated it. I would have it removed but just my personal opinion.

    I don't have it personally but my bff had it and fought her Dr to take it out. She didn't want it anymore and had constant bleeding and got an infection BC if it. Her Dr wanted her to keep it. She eventually got it out 3 1/2 months later. Based on her experience I will not be getting one. It all depends on if you are willing to suck it up and see what happens and if your body adjusts to it?

    @ nathan_n_ethansmom What did you go on after that? I can't do depo shot I bled 6 months straight n I don't care for the nuva ring & I heard the implant in the arm makes you gain weight like crazy...I'm thinking the pill is my best option

    I had it and bleed heavy for at least 4 months then I got severe sharp pains while at work went to er and the mirena migrated up and was beginning to perforate my uterus. I had a interutero infection...it was horrible!

    Hmmm... Not sure but I was thinking of using it after I have my daughter because my partner and I are very fertile together and have gotten pregnant on the pill before and with 4 kids between us I do not want to risk any more!!!

    Well I got it because "no maintenance" I'm 22 and my daughter was unplanned but greatly welcomed just can't afford another one for awhile we figure like 3 years so mirena sounded perfect but now it sucks

    My mum was having problems with heavy periods and was given it not for contraception but to try and help calm her periods. It didn't work and ended up falling out during some heavy bleeding! I would have it taken out and consider something else

    My sister had it and was told to persevere... 16 months later had it removed after only 7 blood free weeks!!

    @ARand89 nothing yet I had it removed and was pregnant the next month. I'm thinking about just taking the pill

    I had it and loved it!!!!! It pretty much took away my periods. I guess everyones body reacts diff to them.

    I'm personally not a fan of IUDs. After my son was born, I went on the nuvaring. It was a perfect fit for me and allowed me to regulate my period, I could even skip my period if I wanted. It was very comfortable and I loves not taking a pill every day.

    I had it for five years. I spotted and had pain for the first six months. My boyfriend could feel it when we had sex and said it hurt him too. My dr told me it takes some time for it to soften. After about a year I had no problems, no periods, no pain, and my boyfriend could no longer feel it. However, when it was time to take it out, they couldn't get to it, so it had to be surgically removed. I have mixed feelings about. Do what you think is best for your body. Best of luck!

    I had it before I got pregnant with lil twinkie. It was the worst decision ever! I lost patches of hair, my emotions were all over the place, and I was in constant pain. All side effects my dr assured me were most likely not because of the mirena and if they were would go away! Finally trusted my instincts and went to a different dr and had it removed. And viola symptoms gone within a month. One month later preggers too lol. Also I read somewhere there is a lawsuit against the makers of mirena. pills or nuva ring :)

    Yes, there is a lawsuit against them. It has something to do with causing miscarriages.

    i would take it out. i personally will never ever get the iud. my friend had an awful experience and ended having to get a full hysterectomy because it caused severe infection. ill stick to the pill

    @misskristin i love nuva ring for that same reason!!

    @MarinesAngel im catholic and i toke the classes to have a catholic church and they talked about birth control and they are fine with it. even my grandma who is a bible thumper asked me when im going to start my birth control. idk i hear alot of different view about it in the catholic church

    I had an allergic reaction to the nuva ring. I got so swollen, blistered and raw that the doctor originally thought I had a bad case of herpes till he realised it was a reaction. It scared the hell out of me and took weeks to heal. Also its not easily available in Australia so it cos me $80 for 3 months... The pill cost me $5... But I cant risk taking the pill with my new partner... I cant risk getting pregnant again, but what else can I try other than abstinence lol

    I've noticed that religious choices have come a long way. I know mormons who use birth control, but am fairly positive it was highly frowned upon years ago. I think it's great if people can live by that rule @marinesangel, I know I can't. I'm too fertile and apparently hubby has the right stuff. This was my 3rd time getting pregnant in 8 months, I lost the first 2 during the first trimesters. If we left it all up to fate, I think I would be pregnant all the time. :(

    @momma_erica. My son was gonna be named nuvaring. Yup he's a 7yo nuvaring baby! I was told it sometimes doesn't work if your not thin. I'm plus size so who knows!

    @marinesangel Ya, my exhusband only got me pregnant once, and I'm sure there were times when I didn't have birth control. I couldn't ask for a better guy than my hubby now. :) He has been so great this whole pregnancy and is beyond excited. He was scared at first because he knows how to take care of my son, he's been in his life since he was 2, but a baby is a whole new experience for him. :) Congrats on finding maybe not the perfect man, but the man who is perfect for you!!!

    Had it in for 9 months n got it removed because I would not stop spotting or having a period. Plus it poked my hubby n made him bleed that was the last straw so I got it removes which didn't hurt at all.
