Ultrasound...

edited September 2011 in Pregnant
I have an ultasond tomorrow at 9 in the morning and I have to drink a litre of water before 8 and hold it in for the ultrasound, what i was wondering is if i hold in my first morning pee will it be enough for the ultrasound? Everytime i've had an ultrasound and drank the litre of water they've told me to go let half out cause my bladders too full?

Not good you need clear water and ussually morning pee haves more color (my doctor told me that)
  • The first ultrasound I had, I drank the full amount and I ended up getting very sick. 2nd time I drank half and left myself with a full bladder and it worked just fine. They just want a full bladder :)
  • @2girls_1boy @eskarne_339 does it really matter if i dont drink clear water? my bladder just comes up as a big black blob on the ultrasound? :/

You need to empty your bladder then start drinking the water it makes the amniotic (sp?) fluid clear so you can see the baby. If you don't empty your bladder drink and enough water its not going to work the right way since an ultrasound machine is basically sound waves :)
  • Oh and btw you can just drink about 2 and a half water bottles and you'll be good to go I usually started drinking them on my way to the doctor (it was a 30 min drive) so I don't have to feel like I'm guna pee my pants for a very long time.
