amniotic fluid?

I'm 36wks & 4days. I spent the night in L&D last night getting IV fluids cause my amniotic fluid was to low. If it hasn't gone back up today, they'll have to talk about about taking my baby a little early. Anyone had experience like this before?

    They didn't. It was starting to get low last week. He told the amount of fluids and water that I drink effects how much fluid there is for him. I tried to increase my fluids over the last week, but they had still dropped below what the Dr. wanted them to be. So I've been getting fluid all night and I have another ultrasound in couple of hours.

    Good luck momma. I know iv fluids are no fun, but hopefully they will get your fluids up & baby can keep cookin!

    Same thing happened to me at the same exact point in time but when I increased my fluid intake my levels went back up :( my Dr said if they would of stayed low, then I would of just been put on strict bedrest... She didn't seem too concerned about it. Goodluck with everything, I hope it works out for you and ya get them back up there!! :X

    The baby pees fluid from you to replenish their fluid. They say that you have to drink 4 to 6 liters to effect it not just drink more. 4 liters is 136 oz or 17 cups. Good luck mama. Hopefully it goes up with the ivs.

    Mine dropped down to 3cm with my 1st baby at 34 weeks and they induced me for 3 days and gave me fluids, baby still didn't want to come, so they got my fluid level up to 5 cm they let me go home with strict orders to drink LOTS of water, and complete bedrest..i went back in the hospital 2 more times over 4 weeks for fluids to bring it back up. and finally at 38 weeks my stubborn little boy decided to make his appearance :) and let me tell you it's NO FUN to walk around for 4 weeks after being induced for 3 days and then being released! Good Luck...

    Thanks everyone. My fluids have come up from 4.6 to 5.9 from the IV fluids. I repeat my ultrasound Sunday morning, if it has dropped below 5.2 again, there inducing on Monday.
