Tips for having a sleepy baby

edited September 2011 in Babies
Ok so I know sleeping through the night isnt going to happen. My daughter is only 4wks old. I'm wondering what some things are to get her to sleep a little longer tonight. The plan so far is feed, bubblebath with sleepy time wash and lotion and probably feed again. Any other tips? Last night she slept for six hours straight, I would love that again

  • Ugh I wish ayva slept through the night once in a while.
  • For our son we used to give him a nice warm bath with the night time wash and then lotion him up with the lotion and feed him in a dark room then rock him to deep sleep and put him in his crib, he slept about 6 to 8 hours at 6 weeks old and we just kept that routine for a very long time. By about 3 to 4 months he was sleeping 12 to 14 hours a night and still does 2 years later. Just make sure she is getting enough to eat throughout the day since she will be skipping night feedings.

@Mama_Kat unless your baby girl is leaking onto her clothes, you can just let her sleep and change her when she gets up...my son started sleeping through the night early and we never woke him to change him, in fact we had to buy overnight diapers so that he would make it through the night without peeing the bed lol
  • Well I've been gettin my son sleep ob his stomach. He stays asleep sleeps more soundly an has been less irritable

  • sophia is 9 days old and this works FABULOUS for us- around 7-8ish is bath time then wrap her warm and use lavender bed time lotion and massage her arms and legs and hands. get her dressed and she doesnt even stay awake long enough to eat. she usually latches and then less than 5 minutes later she is out cold. she usually sleeps for about 4 hrs after that.
  • @JsMyOnlyLove my daughter also sleeps great on her belly

@lae3 I'm going to try that. N I know it may ber impossible im just hoping for every once in a while, it doesnt have to b a daily thing.

tonight would be good though. I went out last night and after coming home at midnight drunk I had to tend to baby all night as well. So a little break tonight would be awesome
  • @survivormommie3 awesome I have the bedtime lavender stuff as well
  • good luck.. :)
