Anyone have tattoos on their ribs? (npr)

Thought I would ask really quick before I go to bed, I don't have any tattoos, but I want to get my son's foot prints on my ribs on my right side (that's where he's always kicking lol) I was wondering how painful it is to get a tattoo on your ribs, I've heard it really hurts. I also want to get mine and bd's astrological signs on my hips.. I think that'll hurt too, but not as much as my ribs.. right?

    To me it didn't really hurt getting it. The shading in of my rose hurt but I think that only hurt because it was just tender by time it got to that part but other than that little part it didn't hurt to me it felt like every other tattoo I got.

    And I don't think the hip part will really hurt either. Mine starts at my ribs and goes down to like my hip.

    @yaya that makes me feel better :) a lot of people have told me it hurts really bad across the bones and it scared me a little! I'm pretty good with pain though so maybe it won't be too bad. Do you know how long I should wait after giving birth?

    I didn't think so I have two on my hips and those hurt more then the ribs especially when healing because your pants are always rubbing against it

    @newmomma13 ya I was thinking about that.. I think I'll get those done asap after having my baby since I'll be resting a lot and no sex already lol plus I'll probably still just be wearing a lot of sweats

    Yea try that but anything touching it hurts I hated it but beauty is pain lol I can't wait to get one of my daughter....I love tattoos

    I have a right rib tattoo. It says PAIN in hot pink old english lettering, the letters are about an inch and a half long each and start from where your bra would sit to my waist. Im not gonna lie, it hurt..alot, took about 2hrs including coloring but when you want a tattoo bad enough, it doesnt matter lol. I also have stars on my chest so I definitely know pain. Lol..

    They told me it would hurt too but I don't listen to what people say I just do it. Just like labor, they said that would hurt bad and it didn't hurt at all to me I think the tattoo hurt more then giving birth lol.

    Mines starts by my under arm and ends on my ribs...it did start hurting way more the closer he got to my ribs

    But the rubbing against your pants part is true @newmomma13. The one on my pelvis was that way. But I just put a bandage over it until healed.

    Hmm I have a pretty decent size tattoo on my left rib cage and it hurt more in some areas than others I know when they did the outline with a single needle it hurt more than the shading in some spots and in other spots it actually painfully tickled lol so I was giggling but wanting to almost cry lol... My nerves were a bit altered afterwards if you barely accidently touched me I would completely flinch anyways lol if its something you really want the pain will completely be worth it :)

    @charliebby1116 haha i agree with the pain/tickling feeling. Hard to explain. And it was the same for me with the shading being less painful than the outlining.

    I never felt mine lol , my hips i swore a little but not much, everyones different though I've done tattoo's on people who never flinched, but i had this one army guy who was huge always in gym (not huge from steriods) and i tattooed his ribs and he was nearly crying, we had to keep stopping lol but then I've had skinny people who was happily chatting all way through having ribs tattooed

    I got a tat on hip n on.ribs...left side...hip hurt more then rib in my opinion

    ive got a tattoo from my left hip up to where my bra sits.. a straight line of writing. the bone hurt more than just the skin but it was bearable. i was told it was the most painful place

    but just control your breathing and its fine. the tattooist couldnt believe how well i took it. plus it hasnt stretched in pregnancy and now 31+1 :-)

    I got one on my hip and I thought when he was doing it 'my skin is ripping off!!' Lol wasn't expecting that pain since the one on my back didn't even hurt

    I have a big wrap around from my belly to my back and it didn't hurt at all. But some people pain is different to others.

    I thought my ribs hurt pretty bad. But not bad enough to stop me from doing it again. Once I have my daughter I'm getting some added to my rib piece :)

    I have a large koi fish on my ribs. Of all my tattoos, it hurt the worst, but not so bad that I wouldn't do it again.

    I don't have a tattoo on my ribs but I have one on my lower back and in my opinion it hurts way more on the fat/muscle parts then on the bone when he went to my sides I couldn't stop shaking :'( but when he was by my spine I was fine.

    I have six and from my experience... Tattoos hurt a alotttt less on bone than fat! I have my whole side done and one going from the top of my spine to the bottom... Barely felt them! Then I have one on my lower back and one all the way down my thigh... Thought I was gonna pass out from the pain!! Hahah everyone is different. I also think shading hurts a million times worse than the outline! Go for it though... Soooo worth it! It only lasts for a few but will be there forev :D

    Thanks ladies :) I can't tag everyone on my phone, but you were all very helpful. I think tickling would bother me more then the pain lol so I hope it doesn't tickle. I'm debating on getting his name, birthday, maybe weight and stuff put in it too or just leaving it as his foot prints :)

    Ill post a pic of my rib tattoo. Omg it hurt soooo bad and I have 4 tattoos. Hip didn't hurt at all. My rib tattoo goes from the top of my rib and wraps around to my lower back. It felt like someone was taking a spoon and carving into my skin. Middle rib cage hurt the worst the shading was better my skin was kinda used to the pain at that point and was numb. Its the outline that hurt for me. I need to go in for a second session to finish it but haven't yet and its been almost 2 years lol. Oh there are so many nerves on your side/lower back that's why it hurts so bad. The tattoo artist said its worse then the top of the foot because of all the nerves. Mine is a big tattoo though so if yours is little it prolly won't be as bad. Mine was 2 hours long and still not finished lol.

    I have a huge one on my ribcage it was my first tattoo. I got it right after I turned 18. It took about 2 1/2 hrs and I really don't think it hurt at all. it is starting to stretch now (33 wks). I'm scared to see what it'll look like after shes born! :/

    That's where my husband got his. He said if really hurt. Whenever he went to get it, the artist said "he must be your soldier. This is gonna hurt"
