When is it OK to shave again?

edited September 2011 in Pregnant
I gave birth to my wonderful son a week & 2 days ago. I had a good natural labor (with epidural) & had a 2nd degree tear. I've healed pretty well too. I was wondering when is it OK to start shaving down there again?

P.S. I had no idea which "category" to put this under!?

  • When your healed I would guess but not sure. This will bump it for you at least :)
  • I shaved when I could comfortably touch and move things down there pain free and my stitches had disolved, I think it was about 2 weeks ..
  • Ty ladies. I do feel 99% pain free. I'm debating if I can shave now!
  • Why wouldn't u be able to shave?
  • just wondering, is it normal for most woman to tear? im hearing these crazy scary stories of my friends tearing and it hurting extremely bad, and im terrified!
  • @ChelseaMarie for the most part it is normal

It toke me 7 weeks to be pain free
  • whenever u feel confy to.:) I had a c sec n shaved @ like 2 weeks
  • @nicoleok87 I would like to shave, but bcuz I got a 2nd degree tear, the doc stitched me up & Idk if the stitches even dissolved yet??? I feel OK & am pain free so I just wanted to make sure it isn't too soon (it's been 1 week & 2 days since my delivery)

@ChelseaMarie Yes some women do tear. It just depends on their size I guess. My doc said there's tears from degrees of 1-4 (4 being the worst). I'm assuming that's why they tell u to do kegal exercises & walk a lot during pregnancy so you're more flexible & it's easier to give birth. I've heard of crazy tear stories from my friends too ugh. Luckily I only got a 2nd degree tear & I healed super quick. I was already ready to walk & everything a few hours after delivery/getting stitched lol! But the docs made me take it super slow for safety reasons of course.

@naliiby2 I feel pretty comfy now :-) Think I'll start! Hehe
  • wow, that does not sound fun at all! lol. everyone keeps telling me to start walking and stuff like that too, so now that i know what can prevent the pain level, im definitley going to start doing all of that! thats so crazy, but luckily yours wasnt so bad! good luck!
  • @ChelseaMarie Good luck! Also make sure to eat healthy so you're baby is a good size I guess? Hehe. When are u due?
  • yeah, our last ultrasound she told us he is a normal size as of right now, but i feel like im eating like alllll the time and gaining so much weight already! lol. and im due january19th!
  • Yeah id say when your comfortable enough to touch down there painfree
    .
@ChelseaMarie i never tore i gave birth 12 days ago and i thank my midwife for that... she gave me really good advice when i was pushing like when to give a full on push and when to pant through the push she even kinda pushed bubz head back in a bit to stop me from tearing koz i just wanted to get her out lol apparently if you push too fast it doesn't give it enough time to stretch hence tearing.. with my first i had a little tear.
