how soon can i go back to work?

edited September 2011 in Pregnant
I haven't worked since april. I quit my job after working at walmart for 3yrs and half years. I'm due oct 31st with my first baby. I'm wonder how soon I can go back to work. I'm really needing a job. my husband and I are getting very frustrated with living with my dad. I don't mind living with my dad. Its just my brother is not understanding that this house needs to be spotless. There is dog shit in his room. His 2 dogs have fleas and now we r flea infested. My brother is freaking nasty. I'm so scared about bringing my baby boy home. sso my question is can I go back to work after 3weeks?? I had friend that went to work. After 2weeks and she is shooter girl for some bar. I just want part time job so we can get our own place.

  • I would say wait at least 3 weeks... Its gonna be hard on your body and difficult leaving your baby. But my mom went back to work after only 2 weeks with both my brother and i. that is horribly disgusting of your brother!!! I know its kind of expensive but can you afford to buy the control stuff? not to help your brother but for your baby? And you may need to bomb the house.... Sorry that's such a sucky position to be in!
  • * flea control... Like the stuff you put on their back... Preggo brain can't think of the name of it.
  • I would wait atleast four weeks. Your body is sore afterwards. And, if yout have a c section you will probably have to wait more.
  • I'm just about two weeks post partum now. I honestly wouldn't physically be ready yet. And thats with a vaginal birth. If wait too see how your delivery goes before making a decision. Is your husband working?
  • @Smcox I spent 20 + on flea meds for my dogs and it didn't work because my brother keeps letting his big dog in the house. I understand his small dog wouldn't survive outside. I've got to talk to my dad about the fleas. Before I bomb this house and treat my two dogs and I'm considering treating my brothers small dog. I'm not going to to waste anymore money. Ever since my brother moved in the house turn into a wreck. Also scared my son is going to get mersa. My brother had mersa over yr ago was treated. I don't know how to tell him without seeming like I'm bi=*hing that he is f#$king nasty and needs to take care of hygene/issues and cleaning..
@Misty2011 I'm hoping for natural birth:) thank for the advice.
  • @marie0907 my husband is working its just not enough to move out on. I figured all I would need is at least 20 hrs a week . Nothing more I'm not ready for that. After working 32 to 36 hrs week at walmart.
  • Well i don't think I could do it, especially standing on my feet all day. My vag still hurts, and my back aches. I'm also breastfeeding exclusively so I need to be here. I get what you are saying though. I know you want to live on your own. I personally would give it a month due ti your body still healing.
  • Can your dad talk to him? maybe that way you don't come off as being bitchy? if the big dog is bringing them in from the back yard it needs to be bombed as well. unfortunately if it's not one of the more expensive ones like frontline or advantix chances are it wont help. I'm a groomer and I see people using the cheaper stuff all the time and there dogs still have fleas :( but maybe if your dad stepped in and was the " bad guy" he would listen? and like someone else said.... Maybe just wait and see how you're feeling after baby... I'm a ftm so have no idea what op will be like. Good luck with everything? sorry you're having to deal with this!
  • So I talked to my dad. it didn't go as well as planned. It turn into why don't we just rid of all the dogs. I refuse to get rid of my poodle she was my moms dog. And I feel like that's the only thing I have left of my mom as strange as that sounds. I told him I agree to treating my brother smallest dog if his big dog stays outside. then I told him I'm going to have to bomb the house he wasn't so happy about that. I was like do you want your grandson being ate up by fleas. So I'm going pay for this stuff and I swear if the big dog enters the house one time he is going to be at the pound

  • Thanks . Yea its must the more I think about it. My brother already stays up all night and the first time he wakes the baby I have a feeling fights going to breakout. @ashleyfew I'm going to be puttting apps in here in few weeks.
  • Can you work from home maybe ?
  • I have a friend who went back to work the day after she was sent home from the hospital!
  • That's too soon for me @garagebandfan
Junebuggbabied85 I wish I could. but I don't have degree in anything that allows me to do that. I'm going back to school in spring to getn my core classes out of the way. I haven't decided on what I want to be when I grow up. As silly as that sounds.
  • While u might feel ready to go back sooner than 6 wks pp, many daycare providers will not take a baby younger than 6 wks.
  • If You have someone yo watch baby u can go back to work whenever you feel ready iwent back to school at 2 weeks
