I'm a ftm and my son was circumcised today :( . he appeared to be fine when the doc bought him back into the room. the doc then explained to my bf an i the steps of how to take care of the circumcision and he leaves the room. My bf goes to pick our son up and he lets out this high pitched scream. My son is only 1 day old and of all the times I've heard him cry this cry was different. Nothing i did soothed him :( and i got so frustrated that i began to cry. My bf and i was changing his diaper and again he starts to scream. It hurt me to know that he was in pain and there was nothing i could do about it :(. I'm starting to regret getting him circumcised. Am i over reacting?

    Its fine mama baby will be okay we plan on getting our son circumcised as well I know I will probly cry too.

    Did they use any numbing cream or anything? Just make sure to COVER IT COMPLETELY with vasaline each diaper change so it doesn't stick to diaper. We went through 4 tubes in one week....just didn't want it to hurt him. My sons was alot better looking even the next morning!

    i dont believe in cercumsision.. .. but whats done is done.. it always hurts to see your babies in pain.. youll cry the first time they get there shots and many times after that.. try not to feel to guilty about it.. im sure just being in mommas comforting arms will be enough to take away any pain.. i want to cry for you cause i know how it feels to see them in pain.. and when they cry from pain we cry too.. heres a hug mom to mom >:D<

    Ima tag u in another post here in a min from yesterday. As for the pain, babies don't really feel pain like we do til a few weeks old cuz their brains haven't fully turned on yet. I will tell u to do the vasaline for at least 2 weeks! My OB said 2 days and we did it for 7 but his head still tried to refuse to his shaft and now I have to basically get my son hard and tug around his head to loosen it away from the shaft so it heals right! I have to do this every diaper change and I feel horrible and feel like I'm molesting my own son. It breaks my heart! :( lemme tag u in this other post and read over all of it. I was amazed and if I have another big Idk if ill circ him or leave him intact.

    @augustbaby the doc said they used numbing cream, and they also something else to stop it from bleeding. The scream is so terrifying. Right now he's sleeping and he keeps letting out this scream :( ...i hope he feels better in the morning

    Don't rub it on. Just put a HUGE glob on his penis and then cover his penis with gauze so it doesn't stick to the diaper.

    Ur gonna go thru a lot of vasaline but its worth it so it doesn't adhere back to the shaft. Use regular vasaline too not the kind with aloe vera or any perfumes cuz it can burn. Plus check him for wet diapers more often til its healed cuz urine can burn him.

    I had my son cerc yesterday and he hasnt screamed like how you describe you boy, though.he has shown some discomfort while peeing. But the swelling is already going down and its not as red.
    just keep a lot of vasalune on it. Rub some between your fingers before applying it. Also I put a ton in his diaper as well in the spot where his penis rests

    My sons was done last Friday and he almost all healed. Its so hard to hear them cry but he will be fine. My son was only upset for a day or two. Did they do it with the plastic band or did they cut it?

    Ya make sure to use the cloth looking kind and not that super fuzzy fluffy crap cuz that will stick to of and make it hard to get off. They should give u little 4x4 inch gauze sponges and if not ask for some cuz they do have them :) my sons was healed within 4 days but like I said it re adhered and I'm having to correct it cuz they told me to only do vasaline for 2 days which obviously wasn't long enough, nor was 7 days like we did on r own.

    My baby didn't cry at all aftrwards. He just slept a lot an wanted to nurse more which the nurse at the hospital said that was his way of getn ovr his discomfort. Make sure u put a lot of baseline on the diaper Wher his penis will b. Good luck mama. If it gets to bad the nurse can gve him tylenol.

    @_kaykes my Dr gave me strips of gauze totally covered with vaseline, lots of vaseline in a Ziploc bag to wrap around da penis and I just put extra on da penis just cuz.. and when we ran outta strips we just bought more gauze cut them up and stuck i da vaseline jar to cover it completely! Try it, I'm telling u it was a lifesaver and my baby showed no reaction to da circumsicion

    I Was Told To Put The Medicine On The Diaper Where You Think His Stuff Will Be At. I Covered Almost All Of It Cuz I Knew It Hurt Him. It Will Get Better Real Quick. My Son's Was Healed in 5 Days.

    @_kaykes we used gauze 4x4 nonstick with surgilube not vaseline. We were told to use ky jelly or surgilube not vaseline. Idk why. Surgilube is available at cvs for like $1.75 and we only used 1 tube of it. You have to ask the pharmacist if they have it (it's not prescription but my store said they don't sell a lot of it). We used the gauze + a big ol glob of surgilube put directly on his penis for 1 week, then just a big ol glob of surgilube for a second week. Dillon was upset with each diaper change for about 3-4 days but within 10 days was completely healed. We just weren't sure when to stop using the lube and we had a 2 wk appt so that's why we used it for 2 weeks. At his 1 wk checkup they said to stop using the gauze. Just make sure to fully expose the tip of the penis when you clean the diaper area too. That's something that sounds "duh" when you read it but was never said to us in the hospital so we didn't pull his skin all the way down when we bathed him until the pedi said to at the 1 wk appt...

    I was lucky, my son didn't react at all other than the initial squeal when it was done. If he wants to sleep and feed more let him, its his way of getting over it and comforting himself

    Just make sure that later on when youre cleaning it to pull the foreskin so you see the ridge thats the head of the penis. Hell be fine, and he wont remember. This is just more info for you when you have to make a decision for your next son.

    I circumsized my little boy. My dr used the plastibell so all I had to do was drip soapy warm water over it when I washed him up. If your dr didn't do it that way you should put vaseline or cream on it to keep it from sticking to the diaper. My lil boy was fine though. Although he did sleep ALLLLLL day the next day. I just assumed it tired him out and he may have been a little sore. lol.

    my baby has been a bit more fussy today and wanting to be fed more so i did as such. i had a rough night of my own recovering from a csection and having a massive tooth ache. hopefully he feels a little better today
