when do you recommend buying, nursing bras?

edited October 2011 in Breastfeeding
Before of after baby gets here? Yesterday I got fitted for a new bra size and wanted to buy my new size but I don't know whether to wait it out a bit since they say when the milk comes in that your breats grow larger still. So what do you all recommend?

  • Mine for sure went up at least another cup! I have to go out and buy more! I'd get just one before baby and wait untill baby is here to realy buy the rest.
  • Maybe just a nursing sports bra for now? That way you don't have to waste the money on a real bra and the sports bra can kinda stretch more. That's what I bought but I'm still pregnant. I got one regular bra to but prolly won't even use it till after we get home from the hospital.
  • I asked about getting fitted yesterday and the lady said to wait to about 2 weeks pp so milk is fully in before you spend that much on new ones.
  • I've been advised by the midwife and by the lady at the lingerie store to get fitted for your nursing bras at 38 weeks..a couple of days pp your breasts will swell a lot but will be too engorged, having a smaller size helps to support sore breasts and prevent them from overproducing.
  • There is a brand called bravado who make amazingly Comfortable nursing bras which you buy in s,m, l etc. The material is stretchy and supportive and allows for fluctuations in breast size.
  • buy 1 or 2 close to your due date.. to wear at the hospitle.. i reccomend getting non wirerless in for the hospital stay and the first wk when you get your milk.. and then after your milk comes in get a few more.
