Your opinion please....traveling on the bus during 35+5

edited October 2011 in Third Trimester
I need your opinion ladies...my hubby is 8 hours away working and its been like a month and a half that I haven't seen him. I would like to travel by greyhound bus so that I can go visit him but I am crazy as I am thinking that maybe I can go into labor while being over there. I'm supposed to have baby in my home town and he is supposed to come down here for the delivery because I will need help after having baby. I will get my gallbladder removed and need my family to help take care of baby while I am in surgery and at the hospital. My hubby just found a great job where his at, so would you travel 8 hours by bus at 35 +5?

  • I probably wouldn't =( that's a long drive with only 1 or 2 stops, so u can't get up and move freely... I'm pretty sure sitting that long is gonna have ur legs and feet really swollen... not to mention the small cramped bathroom, which always stink and nasty! And rude ppl who talk too much! Lol! Maybe u could hold out a lil bit longer, I know u wanna see and touch ur man but its pretty risky! Have u ever thought about Skype or oovoo? Good luck hun! I hope u come to a conclusion that's right for u!
  • I don't think I'd do it by bus either, especially if you aren't comfortable or able to give birth in a hospital that is far away. When you're pregnant, you need to stop constantly. I would talk to your OB and get their opinion before going.
  • No way. Traveling on a bus anytime sounds awful, let alone while almost 36 weeks pregnant. I couldn't do it.
  • My bro lives in Nashville and I wanted to go visit him for his bday last weekend (I was 35 weeks). My Dr told me no traveling after 34 weeks.
  • I don't think its a good idea!!!! Tienes q tener cuidado por tu salud y la de tu bebe !!!
  • I took a trip to AZ from Ohio and back at 36-37 weeks - busses and train. It wasn't easy or comgort
  • *comfortable, but worth it to me for my sister's wedding. My midwife said to just be aware that I may be forced to give birth out of town, and gave me copies of my medical records to take with me. You know the risks - if your Dr says ok then it's your choice!
  • Just like @mommy_2 and @blueberrysmom said taking abus anytime is very uncomfortable. I remember I went to Ohio when I was living in Pa (10 hours away) I was sooo cramped abd I REFUSED to use the bathroom. I waited til we stopped. The only good thing about the trip was that it was late so ppl were sleeping so there was no noise. I also had my daughter with me, she was an angel and gave no trouble at all. But still the ride itself was awful. I couldnt imagine doing it while pregnant.
  • I wouldn't I agree w the other ladys
  • I just got back from a 5 hr. Trip to MI. We were driving in r own car & it was very uncomfortable. TONS of BH contractions. I was 36+6. Supposed to go up again 10/17 for the night, hubby has business up there & afraid to leave me. Dr. Said no way & don't think I could make it. Personally, I wouldn't go.
  • I'm needing to ask my Dr the same thing. My church is going w/ my pastor (my father) to Nashville as he tells his testimony on live tv on TBN. It is about a 4 1/2 hr trip and I will be 35+5 as well. I really wanna go! :(
