how long after having baby can i use tampons?

I'm so sick of pads and I just started my period... I'm 5 weeks pp and would really like to just be comfortable. So how soon did u ladies start to use tampons?

I waited a week. I was only bleeding lightly. I can't stand pads so I started using tampons...I only bled for two weeks total though.

I was told not until my 6 week check up and I didnt have any tears at all.

My Dr said 6 weeks too but I'm five weeks now and I hate hate hate pads. I don't see what difference one week would make. I think I'm going to try it and if it hurts I'll stop. But if any of u have had bad experiences with please let me know. And thanks again all!
