  • Have you seen him stick his, tongue out at all?
  • That pic shows a normal tongue when babies cry.
  • From what I've heard...& don't know if it's true... That's one of the things at the hospital the Ped. evals. before baby is released. If they thought it was okay, then he might be fine. My BFF's baby was tongue-tied and she had her tongue thing snipped before even leaving the hospital. That was 8 years ago though.
  • No I have never seen it out and its always flat. I guess the crying didn't help but only pic I could get of his mouth open. @littlefae @jcbowker
  • Its the lactation lady at the hospital is the one who told me she thinks he is tongue tied but his doctor, who didn't see him in the hospital, said as long as he will latch with a nipple shield not to worry about it. but I'm sure he's never tried to get that thing to stick and my son will get mad and pull it off. @tizpear
  • Keep an eye on him for a couple of days and.if he doesnt stick his tongue out than give your pedi a call.
  • Ill try to get a pic of my daughters for u
  • My son was tongue tied which is making him unable to latch at the hospital while breastfeeding. the Dr informed me after evaluating him and gave me the option to snip it so he would not have speech problems and be able to latch and suck properly. hope you figure it out.
  • Here's apic of my daughters, its kinda blurry but you can se it goes to thw end of her tongue

  • he doesnt look toung tied to me.. sorry your haveing trouble with your lil man a bf.. keep at it and what ever you do dont bottle feed cause they get lazy .. if you do.. both.. oh yeah my lil man whos 18mnths is tounge tied and he never had a bf issue but i know that it can cause it.. but his toung.. is attatched to the lil flap of skin that connects it to the bottom of his mouth.. almost looks like a lizard tounge.. lol .. dr said its an easy procceedure to get it sniped if need be.. so far no speach or feeding issues so we probably need to snip it..
  • I hope all is okay!
  • my son got his clipped before we left the hospital, his pedi said it looked a little short an the lactation consultant said he sucked weird so we had it clipped and he didn't even cry it was super easy. I dont notice a difference but who knows.
  • That looks normal compared to what my baby girl had, her tongue went heart shaped when she cried bc it was so attached to bottom and was never able to stick tongue out (like jazzi89's pic). He might be mildly tt, but shouldn't be an issue unless it is tied at the back. I don't know much about that, but is see an EENT just to be safe.
  • My son is tongue tied as well and like @jellybelly1015 said the end of his tongue looks like the top of a heart. It's not given him any issues bf-ing or taking a bottle. We plan on seeing an ENT specialist bc my fiance was also tongue tied, didn't get his frenulum clipped til he was 3 and it affected his speech.
  • @mam082711 glad it wasn't effecting his bfing!!! Our Lo had no issues w bottle but still reliant on it and looks for it after bfing. Working on resolving it, and I think everyday is better.
  • I had my tongue clipped at around 3-4yrs ad didn't have any speech problems after. If the doctors are concerned they will tell you and likewise if your concerned tell them. Good luck!
