Maybe your milk hasn't fully come in yet. Mine took a good 3-4 FULL days after delivery with my 1st 3 babies. My boobs felt full, but barely anything came out. When my milk came in, look out! I was an overproducer at 80- 90 oz.s a day!
Also, what type of pump do you have? Do you feel "let-down" when pumping? (The pins and needles feeling?) Do you feel it when feeding you baby? If not, it may be that your milk isn't quite in. I had great sucess with Ameda's Purely Yours double electric pump. I bought it used off Ebay and sterilzed everything and it lasted through full-time pumping for 2 kids and hopefully this one as well.
You're not going to automatically pump out five ounces. My baby is three weeks and I'm just now getting four. Your babys stomach is still tiny and your milk is still coming in. Do not give your baby any formula he/she is cluster feeding to get your milk supply going. As long as you are getting plenty of wet diapers you are fine. I wouldn't even try pumping right now since you're trying to build your supply and only baby can do that. So just feed your baby, the first two weeks are the hardest as they get that supply going and gain their weight back.
@tizpear yeah I was thinking it hasn't fully come in yet either, my boobs feel harder and heavier but not ALOT, I also have minimal leaking...whoa 90oz a day?? :O thats awesome
I bought the Evenflo Simply Go single electric pump to try pumping before I invested in an expensive one
@ExcitedForOctober Yes, it was nice to feed my baby and made me proud. (I was an exclusive pumper for the last 2.) But, it totally wreaked my ta-tas b/c my boobs stretched out so much. After #3, I had 2 lifts and implants put in. Now, preggo w/ #4, I'm going to do it again. (Personally, I feel it's best for my baby.) Hubby already promised me another lift when done, if needed. I figure all the $ we save from not buying formula is half the cost of the lift!
Good luck to you & give yourself some more time! If your baby is happy, then you are producing the correct amount!
You will get there you just started . Just let him nurse when he wants and you supply will come in. Don't forget to pump if he sleeps through a feeding
nope lol.. i have induction date for oct 28th.. im happy with it.. cause they wanted to do it on holloween but ask if i could do it 28th at 41wks and they said yes!! =D> having an end in sight makes me happy and getting my date i wanted.. but still hopeful that i will go on my own :-" b-(
