  • If you wait too late to get it's..4 cm.was what they recommended
  • Depends on the place. I was 6 cm and rapidly dilating when they were trying to give me mine today. I just went too quick lol
  • @preggointx I was thinking as soon as I feel pain I want it. Im sooooo scared right now as the days get closer
  • @sweet1 u gave brith today
  • @preggointx ? The real contrations cum from ur tummy or va jj?????
  • Don't be scared everybody is different, I got mines at 4cm & it relieved my pain but I didn't progress had to get a c-section and it failed, had to get the spinal!
  • I never really felt contractions ....lucky I know my best friends epi failed at 6 cm ...mine totally worked I had to have a c section after two days on pitocin they said at.4 cm your in active labor the contractions I did feel felt like period cramps in my tummy ..lower tummy
  • @preggointx I get like the cramps dwn there like with sum presure that shit hurts wonder if contrations r like that
  • My doctor made me get my epidural as soon as he started the pitocin and broke my water. I was only 2cm and 70% thinned. My epi worked great and I slept the entire time. If you start to feel pain/pressure at any point after you get your episode tell your nurse. They can adjust it and make you not feel it anymore. Don't be nervous. You'll do great.

I got mine at 3 cm. It only covered my right side and not my left side. The pain from the contractions was excruciating, so they tried to reposition it and that didn't work. They tried to give me a couple bolus doses (one time larger dose) and that didn't work, so I got nubain. Nubain just took the edge off, but I still felt every contraction. After talking to by OB about why it happened she told me that either they put it in wrong, or where they did put it I have some spinal bone isssues that made it difficult to place or did not allow the medicine to move freely. I ended up with a c-section and got a spinal block, which did work.

The procedure for an epidural and spinal block is approximately the same, but generally an epidural catheter is left in your back, so that you can get a constant infusion of numbing medication for as long as your labor lasts, whereas a spinal is just one shot of medication. They might use a spinal when they know how long you need to be numb. For example, if you were to have a c-section or if you are very close to delivering, and they know you only need to be numb for an hour or so before you deliver. Spinals will make you numb (like when you have dental work done) so that you may not feel anything, whereas with epidurals you MAY feel something (for example, pressure), but not pain if it is working right.
