Bc all your hormones are going to your milk supply. Some women have spotting but its rare. You can still get pregnant though so be very cautious!

My mom told me she bf me for a lil over a year and afterwards about a week or two after she stopped her period came back

You can get your period while breastfeeding. My son is exclusively breastfed and I got mine back a week after I stopped bleeding from having him. And they have been very regular for 4 months. Everyone's different though. I wish I was one of the lucky ones who don't get it while breastfeeding.
