Oversupply question

edited October 2011 in Breastfeeding
I went from about 3-5 ozas when I pumped last week to about 5-9 ozs when I pump now. My baby girl is 4 weeks today and I feed her first before I pump, and always wait till she is totally done (recently, a few times before she spits a lit up). I try not to boob her as a paci, but until she is doing it, it is hard to tell hungry or not. My question is is I have an oversupply issue bc I am freezing about 8ozs or more a day. I know I have plenty if I get sick, already have 100ozs stored.

Total after she feeds. I was just concerned bc it amped up so quick and I have what seems like an excess. If that seems normal then I won't worry or try cutting back!
  • I don't think there is anything to worry about.
  • Your body might thing you are "feeding 2 babies" . It makes sense to me.
  • Sounds fine to me. As long as your not engorged or anything I wouldnt worry and its great to have plenty in storage. My bubs is only 6 days and after a feed im getting about 5oz. I pump once a day just to help keep my supply strong and get my storage up because if I cant directly feed her I want to know she is still getting my milk
