Tylenol, motrin is usually used for back up when tylenol won't break a fever. Motrin is processed through the kidneys where as tylenol is processed more thru the liver. I only know this cause my 3 yr old was born with kidney problems and I'm not allowed to use motrin on her. Which can be a real pain when I can get a fever to break. I have always used tylenol after shots.
