question about publiv services visits

edited November 2011 in Pregnant
I just got a call from public services saying that they want to do a visit at my home to check on the baby and me. I have medicaid for her so im assuming thats why, but are these visits routine? Will it affect anything because i live with my parents? Im in illinois btw

  • Its pretty routine. They just come see how your adjusting to life with a newborn. Not sure about the other.
  • Oo ok @angel26 so its prettt routine? Do they check the house like they would when going through custody and adoptions?
  • Its a new thing. The nurse I got was very nice. We just stayed in the living room. She just asked how baby and I were doing, adjusting. Is there to answer.any questions you might have. Weighs baby, took my blood pressure and checked to make sure my uterus was movinh back, like they did in the hospital. And she went over basic infant and post partum care, asked how breast feeding was going since I had some trouble in the hospital and had an lc come to my home as well. I was nervous about the visit but she was very sweet and it was nice not having to go in for this small visit
  • I.also have private insurance blue cross/shield
  • No. At least not when they did mine. They just sat down with me and asked how i was doing. Asked if i had any questions or problems. Stuff like that. They didn't even really look at anything really. Just sat there and was talking.
  • I think they offer it to everyone. i got offered but i decline to being super tired
  • @littlefaye ive heard of the nurses but it was from public services
@kayleigh27 they didnt rly give me a choice they kind of just said they would come it sounds kind of like what @angrl26 is saying they will do he said they want to see how im doing and the baby is doing
  • Really? They gave me a choice
  • Yea @adri05 i just assumed it was routine they said they'd call and confirm but im asking cuz i have never heard anyone else mention this
  • Wow yeah they asked me if it was ok or if i wanted someone to come down to my house
  • if i remember correctly from nursing school, the risk for pp complications and depression is lower when these visits occur. and from what i remember, they usually happen with younger moms, don't know the age range, to help make sure they're adjusting well to having a baby since it's a huge event. i didn't get one (or a call for one) and i'm 27. i would've declined it though.
  • @myressa2011 i also have medicaid for my son
  • Yea well i dont have any issuea rly so they can come and check what they need thank you guys @kayleigh27 and mama082711
