  • i had a 3rd degree...i just made sure to get up and down carefully (on and off sofas/chairs), i kinda sat crookedly to get pressure off my bottom and most of the time asked my fiance for help. i didn't stand up from sitting holding baby. i limited taking the stairs, used the squirt bottle with warm water when i went to the bathroom and tucks pads, and asked the hospital for extra ice pack pads and i had an anesthetic cream not a spray, so i asked for an extra thing of that too. if you are already home then wet a diaper and put it in the freezer to use as an ice pack. i also slept with a pillow between my legs. they will itch like crazy as they heal more.
  • I have just been doing things like I normally would. I guess I should start taking it more easy... I havent been using warm ive been using room temp does that make a big difference? @mam082711 Im using tucks pads and derma something for pain spray but it doesnt seem to be helping much anymore... How long does it take to heal?
  • bump!

I wanna know too! How long does it take to heal?
  • Wow my stitches didnt bother me that much.. i guess i got lucky..the dermoplast reallly helped
  • With my first my stitches hurt so bad I used a pillow and would not pee unless I couldn't hold it lol. This baby they didn't hurt to bad and I tore under my Hood but I used rubber gloves in little sleeves and froze them and I used that and tucks and spray.. make sure you blot

  • I'm wondering the same thing! I'm one month pp today and I still have a TON of stitches! My Dr said to not expect them to dissolve for 5-6 weeks. This just seems so long. Sitting is still unbearable. When is this over?

    Bump
  • They arnt bugging me a lot but deff more today then ever. I'm 3days pp. and I'm so ready for it to be over and healed I have a very small tear I can't even see the stiches. I will deff try soaking pads with witch hazel. I have herd of sitz bths but what is it exactly? @homebirthadvocate @proudmomma @mama2b1111
  • If I remember right it's a tray you put under the toilet and fill it with water and soak your area in it. But I country be wrong. Tucks and ice packs and warm water and spray are a blessing. Do they feel like they are pulling? If so just try to keep them moist. Pull means you're healing. Hang in there with my first my stitches were gone in 7 days but with this one it was 3 weeks! But after a while I didn't feel them anymore lol
  • I found having a wee through a cold wet flanel helped!
  • If u want cold wet n freeze a pad while Ur home I found not dissonance movements
  • A sitz bath is a tray u put in the toilet and u put hot water in. U can also add epsom salt in the tray. It has like a bag attached to it that u fill w water. This way Ur not sitting in yucky water, there is a constant flow of water. U can buy it at a drug store. They cost around $20.

My stitches are itching so bad. I actually thought I was getting a yeast infection (I was on antibiotics for 12days and usually antibiotics give me yeast infections) but I went to see the Dr and he was like no you just have soooooo many stitches inside and they are healing. That's why u are itching insanely!

So far I have had about 9 long stitches fall out and my husband says from what he can see they just keep going! Ugh who would .of thought a 7lbs10oz baby could have torn me so bad
  • Dang @crystaldawn0830 I had a 8lbs baby and only got a small first degree tear inside I feel for you girl!
  • Idk if this was said but ice packs totally helped me. Uncomfortable to sit on but feels amazing lol. Numbs it and reduces swelling. Did they give you a spray bottle to use when peeing it helps fill it with warm water and spray while peeing to dilute the urine and kinda clean yourself after peeing.
  • @alwayzbeenurz2008 i think mine took like 3ish weeks to heal but i didn't feel completely normal down there til 5-6ish weeks. i never noticed my stitches falling out or anything, and the dr sang to my vagina that i healed very well (yes, sang to it at my 6 week pp visit; she was the on-call so she delivered me i didn't see her at the clinic) so i guess you don't have to notice them falling out. i'd def take it easy for the first 2 weeks if you can. i got store brand tucks pads (walgreens) cuz they're cheaper, and they are witch hazel. with the spray bottle, i always used as warm as i could stand it bc it felt good to me. warmth also promotes blood flow to the area, which helps it to heal. and as @proudmomma said don't wipe when you go to the bathroom, squirt then blot dry with the tp. i tore to my rectum and had stitches in my bumhole so that was hard going #2 and not being able to wipe properly. good luck :-)
  • I DIDNT FEEL SHIT, BUT WHY DNT U CALL UR DOC SO U CAN GET SOME STRONGER MED, IM SURE HE WILL STILL GIVE IT TO U....
  • Its Been a week for me I tore towards the bottom. Next I'm telling them to cut me. sometime I feel my stitches rubbing the wrong way. I have sitz bath haven't used it. I use the bottle and spray it seems to help me and I lay with pillow between my legs to relieve pressure. I also got a butt donut thing. I can sit on omgah that thing helps a lot. I'm actually needing better pads, mine rub the wrong way. I should have ask for more hospital pads those where more comfortable. What I wanna know is when can I take a bath??? I'm so tired of standing in the shower and my back is killing me.
  • @gabbyc I asked they say they can't because I'm not her patient anymore I don't see how that's possible since I hae to see her in 6 weeks..
  • Wtfudge....hmmm bastards...do u have medical???
