I've never recieved the flu shot but i have been hearing it is very good to get while pregnant. I'm kind of hesitant about it and my fiance is completely againts it...thoughts and comment?
I personally will never get the shot, even when I was pregnant. I got it once in my life and ended up in urgent care I was so sick and dehydrated. I've never been that sick with the flu before, and since then. I got sick within a week of getting that shot. I honestly believe that it was the shot that caused it. I missed a week of work and almost lost my job. It was awful. So personally I wouldn't, but there are others who swear by it and get it, it's honestly your choice, just sharing my experience with it which wasn't good.
That's what my fiance says..he says it makes you sick and hes not ok with me getting it and I'm personally not to fond of the idea of getting it while pregnant...idk... Im torn with this one
I had one last year when I was pregnant with my son it didn't make me.sick &i never got even a cold...i plan to get one this year too with my current pregnancy
My ob talked to me about it bc I said ive never gotten it before and was scared that it would make me sick. But he said its a myth that it makes you sick now years ago they would give you a shot with I live strain of the flu but now its not an active strain. After researching I decided to get it and not so much for me but for my baby. He is being born in the middle of flu season any day now and knowing that 4,000 people die a year from the flu mainly babies and elderly I made the choice for my family to have it done. We just met with a pediatrician last week and he asked if we got the shot and said to tell anyone in our family that plans on being around our son to get the shot as well. I felt weird telling my inlaws they have to get it but the pediatrician said its your child simple as that if they dont want the shot tell them they can stop by after flu season lol. They were uneasy about getting it but we gave them the facts and they actually went yesterday:) . Being pregnant your immune system is lowered too so even if yoh normally dont get the flu yoh may this year bc of your lowered immune system. Either way good luck with your decision. Maybe talk to your dr. some.
I've had the flu shot both this year & last year, the worse I had was a bit of a sore arm. I decided to get it last year due to being pregnant & the h1n1 scare & as no bad reaction decided to have it again this year when offered again due to being pregnant. It's a personal decision, I've been offered it many times before due to my job & always decided against it.
I had onewhile I was pregnant this year and I didn't get sick. My son hasn't got sick either. We also had the whooping cough vaccine. The most I got with both was a sore arm. As long as ur not alergic to eggs u should be fine
I got it & I never have previous years..I am glad I did because she came at 38 weeks so I was happy that I had that reassurance that both her & I both had the antibodies in our system...I got the shot when I was 36 weeks pregnant. We haven't gotten sick either. My fiance, dad, step mom and both my sisters got one and none of them have gotten sick & one.of my sisters is usually sick this time of year.
I got one while I was pregnant but was hesitant at first because like my boyfriend I was ignorant and thought it made you sick but thats wrong! You do not get sick from it, it is not an active virus. My bf still refuses to get one and it made us get into a huge fight over it because my pedi also said to make sure they everyone that lives with the baby gets it...
I have the flu right now!! And a 7 week old baby who is also sick! Its the worst!! How can you take care of a sick child when you're also sick?? I haven't had more than 2 hrs sleep at a time for 3 days. Do you want to be in this situation?? Sure wish I had gotten my shot!
Forgot to mention to make sure you get the ingectable(sp) for pregnant women one...idk what the difference in them there is but my doctor couldn't stress enough on that...I think because you don't get the live virus.
i got the shot while pregnant last year. the only thing i got was a sore arm. and this year i got the spray and im not getting it for my baby this year. 6 months in my eyes is to young for the shot cause the shot has egg whites in it. but next year she will be but only if she can get the spray
I don't catch the flu so never had one before, but am planning on getting it one of these days with my pregnancy because I like to be extra safe. Now its just convincing my mom to make her bf and my foster brother get it. Also have to convince hubbys family because they get the flu all the time so if they want us to visit they have to get it.
