WTF?? really. If you have to ask about motor oil on a child's head you have some serious issues. I shudder at the thought of someone being so ignorant. You may need to take your child to the hospital and leave her or him. :O
Ok... What the baby is experiencing with the bald patches is totally normal for age. Babies shed their hair 3 times before the age of one. Motor oil should NEVER be used on human skin... The chemicals get absorbed into the skin and will end up in the bloodstream. Cutting all of the babys hair off will cause the hair to grow in coarse and unnatural. Let the babys hair grow in on its own. There shouldn't be a rush. The safest thing would be to use baby oil to lubricate the scalp and hair that is still there. It will grow in eventually.
Each hair strand has its own follicle and pore from which it grows out of. Maybe if the baby is spending too much time on her back or on side of head that may also be causing the baldness... But cutting it all off will only destroy her natural hair and will set the groundwork for coarse, thick hair. Let it grow in on its own.
