Crying baby...Help NEEDED!

edited December 2011 in Babies Health
My lo has been crying on and off for the last 3 hours n I can't figure out y. I've tried everything...singing, talking to her, rocking her, standing up with her, feeding her (btw she didn't want to nurse n if she did it would be for a few min then she would unlatch herself n start screaming again) I tried pumping her legs to make sure it wasn't gas n gave her gripe water but she still continues to sream n cry. What could it be? please help!

  • Burp her, change her, does she take a pacifier? Put her where your heart is & rock her & pat her butt. When my son is fussy I do that & he knocks out lol
  • Take baby outside if you can see if that works! I know how you feel! Even if just in back garden sometimes the air stops mine! X
  • It could be something as simple as a tag on her clothes bothering her or a hair wrapped around her finger. She could also be going through a growth spurt. Try a warm bath.
  • Oh and the other thing i do is hold baby tight against me and shhh has loud as i can in his ear whilst rockin that seems to work for his bed time freak out x
  • Oh & get a baby soothing app it works wonders I put on white noise for my baby & he is fast asleep.
  • @everyone thanks a lot...she is finally nursing now so i'll see if she calms down when she's finished
@TxMommy93011 I tired that n it usually works but she's not feeling it tonight lol n no she HATES pacifiers
@three_cats_n_a baby I wish I could take her outside but it's raining....when u take ur lil one out how long does it take for the baby to calm down
  • @TxMommy93011 thanks...im about to download it now
  • @bummy87 she is 6 weeks
  • @taytay sometimes he stops instantly and some times just have to walk up our road and back down and he is calm. I have a stretch sling too which is basically a long bit of fabric that you tie round and then put baby in and that settles him too so i would recommend that. Mine is 8. Weeks x
  • could be growing was reading babys can fuss like that have u checked theres no hairs wrapped around her toes/fingers
  • @three_cats_n_a_baby I wanted a stretch sling but my neighbor said there was a recall on them for some reason but im going to have to try walking outside next time she's fussy
@bummy87 no hairs wrapped on her anywhere....it may possibly be a growth spurt
@everyone after nursing she finally went to sleep but woke up this morning screaming like she was in pain so I pumped her legs just to make sure it wasnt gas n it was. I called the peditrician too n the nurse said it sounded like gas which is normal for babies her age n to give her milicon (sp) n if it doesn't work within a few days to call back for an appointment. What do u ladies do or use when ur babies r gassy???
  • Vacuum cleaner gets my lo quiet. She loves it
  • I use colic calm it works wonders! Its a bit pricey i spent about $25 on a bottle.
  • My baby used to get really fussy like that. Took her to the doc and found out she has acid reflux and is allergic to milk. So she's on meds and I cut dairy out of my diet. Since then she's a happy lo. For gas I just give her a tbs or2 of warm water. Its simple, free, and works great.
  • @Mckenzie23 I was using gripe water. Have u tried it? I'm going to have to look into colic calm then. I just HATE when something is bothering her n I can't take it away
@emy never heard about anyone using a vacuum...i guess whatever works lol I'll try anything n when I do I'll let u know how it works. She does like the sound of the shower though but nothing was calming her down last night
  • @graciesmomma I was thinking that it could be something I'm eating. I called the lactation specialist n she said she doubts it but then again she's not a doc so if this continues (praying it doesn't) I will make an appointment with her doc
  • With my first son a lot of times nursing while standing or walking around would work or putting him in a moby and he'd finally sleep. He was a very fussy baby so I did this a lot
  • @MichelleBelle my little girl is a good baby n doesn't cry much (thank God...lol) only when something is wrong but nursing walking is something I need to try...thanks
  • No problem:) there was always something magic about it, he'd finally keep nursing and go to sleep
  • @MichelleBelle aww :)...do u know if laying down nursing can cause gas?
  • Hmmm I don't know but I know it can make reflux worse!
