Hello ladies I recently applied for State Disability and was approved. I was wondering how long after your claim is approved, do you have to wait before you receive your first payment? thanks in advance ladies I have never gone through this process.
I started to stress thinking about it. I didn't know if I was gonna have to wait like a few months or what. Also is it true that the second payment is a back payment? Sounds weird to me but id rather ask someone who has actually been through the process
I'm in California too & I think it took about 3 weeks for my disability to come in. After it runs out they send you the paper work for paid family leave automatically, so be sure when you get that that you fill it out & turn it in right away. That way there are no gaps in your cash flow.
@frantastic ok so I got all my paper work from my work including the paid family leave I'm on the disability leave right now and still have 3 weeks left well other day I had mommy moment and filked out my paid family leave bc I thought it was time so now I need new paper work so the state send u that automatically bc, like u said I don't want to miss my time to apply for that bc we all need the money. So when do u think they send that should I try calling or just wait? Thank u and what is the back payment for?
The back pay is for your first 2weeks of disability so basically you get 2 payments at once & then they pay you every other week. As for the paid family leave they just sent me my papers when my 6 weeks of disability were up. I filled them out & got paid a week later.
@ynvtish the baby bonding & paid family leave are the same thing. That sucks that you had to call them. They sent me a debit card that gets reloaded every other week, but I have to call to check the balance on it.
@frantastic ... Your right they are the same thing.. I milked my disability for a few months and then did paid family/baby bonding... My daughter is 5.5 and I just got done with my 6 weeks baby bonding... I qualify for unemployment now since I just got off of both with no job to return to (planned on being q SAHM anyway)

@frantastic oh they didn't do my back pay yet but I am missing that first two weeks worth of money I've been meaning to try and call them about that do they usually do right away or at the end of ur six weeks?
@frantastic I see well my work gave me the paper work that way I could have the 4 weeks before off as well as the six weeks after ya know. And they gave me paper work to fill out once the six weeks is up in order to apply for the paid family leave and thats the one I need a new copy of. But ill try and call I think my bf know who to call. Thank you

When your disability is up you can now apply for ANOTHER 6 weeks .. its called baby bonding.
