Dont use anything scented lotion, soap, and even be careful with laying him on clothing w/ scents on them. I always have one of his recieving blankets in between him and anything/anyone he's touching. Take Daily baths with oil added and a natural soap or soap specifically for eczema. Its a myth that bathing your child everyday will make eczema worse. with all the moisturizing and other treatments you need to remove the excess buildup so that it can work effectively. if your child doesnt have eczema then bathing them every other day helps to prevent it from happening. Use a good moisturizer im going to be trying BABY EXEDERM line soon (if you're intrested ill let you know how it works). i was using aquafor but because my lo has it on his face i wanted something less greasy looking....try not to have it too hot or too cold, avoid extreme changes in temp. My husband has heat induced ecema and i am sensitive to fragrances, soaps, lotions and some metals still havent found my lo's main trigger but i think its a combination of botg of ours...good luck!
Oh i didnt see the "slight case" part of your original post! Lol well in that case try aveeno baby eczema therapy or any other unscented cream specifically for eczema...since its still mild i wouldnt wash daily just yet....eczema is pretty much the combination of an allergen and dry skin... find the allergen keep skin moisturized and youre set...what do you wash your/his clothes in? Fabric softner? Drying sheets?
