Diapers? Ftm :)

I live 1700 miles away from family so my babyshower is going to be more of a celebration since I cant bring stuff back with me on the plane. Well im going to try to slowly buy things and stock up on stuff but not sure on diapers.
How many boxes of newborn diapers should I have?
Or size 1?

    I wouldn't buy more than maybe one pack to start with because you first don't know how big they will be second how they will fit. We had to try three different diapers before we found one that fit him properly and he was already in size one when we brought him home.

    @Fate I guess after everyone tells you to "stock up on everything" ftms like me take it to heart lol :/
    I can only stock up until my lo is 4 months and then I have to drive us back to tx with our bare minimum

    Yeah, I would just try a small package first. I ended up with several unused diapers and then he outgrew size ones before 8 weeks old and had a full already opened box that I couldn't return. My ex had a baby boy two weeks after my son was born and he and his gf are poor so I've just been giving all my leftovers to them :) but wish I hadn't spent so much money on stuff I ended up not using!

    If you do stock up...get different sizes and keep the receipts. I exchanged many from my shower when we had lots of 2's but still needed 1's or when we thought we would use pampers but he peed right out of them. I suggest if you don't wanna have the hassle of possibly having to exchange them...start a diaper $jar. Then you will be set on diaper money and will just have to pick them up as needed.

    A little off topic, but would your family consider giving you gift cards to babies r us, Target, etc.??

    And definitely don't buy too many of one size. But have enough size newborn, 1, and 2 to last at least 2 weeks so you won't have to worry about running out to the store. Keep your receipts in case you don't use the smaller sizes :) My daughter was a preemie and wore newborn diapers for over a month! Now she's huge lol. It's crazy how much they grow and very unpredictable!!

    Yes I agree with everyone else don't but too much newborn size diapers. Also the gift cards are a great idea! Or they can order online and have the gifts sent to your home.

    I had one pack of newborns from my shower the hospital have me a shit load of new born pampers & I ended up buying one pack after that and.they were snug on him this time I'm onlybuying one pack they grow so fast

    Our little girl was in newborns for what seemed like forever...so id say the first month or so. Now she is in size 1 and is 2 months old. It's so hard to figure out how many to buy...so instead of buying nb or 1 we went with the bigger sizes like 2 and 3.

    I had two packs of newborns about 20 diapers in each. One I got from a friend one from the hospital. He out grew them and I had 13 left over.
    For size ones he went through two boxes of xl so about 200ish diapers each or more (can't remember exact count) and he only had about 7 diapers left over when finished.
    I'm now on size two and he has gone through one smaller box of bout a 100 and is now on a second and xl box of 200ish and I just ordered another. He seems to be going through more 2s.
    Each baby is different so its hard to say how quickly your baby will grow and move up sizes. But I definitly wouldn't get a lot of newborns, maybe a pack or two.

    It all depends on the baby, I would say to just put the money asside, get a pack of newborn n 1's they could fit in eather one, best brand that fits my Lo is the cheep wallmart brand lol. She was in newborn untill almost 3months

    At my baby shower I had received 1 pampers box, 1 huggies box, 4 huggies 40 packs, 1 CVS brand 40 pack. I used ALL but the 1 CVS 40 pack. She's going on 4 months now and I have yet to buy my own diapers!!

    Just remember, once your baby starts getting a little bigger, only use the new born diapers at night if you're going to use the swaddler ones that have the umbilical cord cut out. There were man occasions while breast feeding my daughter when she got a little bigger that... when she peed, it would just come right out the front and get all over me because of that cut out.

    @starrxoxo9 yea we're going to ask for gift cards. And we're keeping the sex a secret until the babyshower so no one is tempted to buy us stuff. I don't want to be stuck paying to ship everything to my house from there.

    I think I'll buy a pack and see from there. We have a savings account for the baby so its just me having the stuff that I was concerned with :)

    I would stock up on a variety of different sizes. My son was born small so he will be in newborns for a while so we have lots of them! Babies go through about 8 to 10 diapers a day! I havent had to do this, but I've heard that you can returned an unopened pack of diapers back without a receipt and get store credit for more diapers
