"Popping"

edited January 2012 in Pregnant
When do you think its right to "pop" your child?? I heard some ppl start as young as 6 months!! I think that WAYYY to young because they dont know whats going on just yet. I do tell my 6 month old not to do things in hope that he learns that certain things he shouldnt touch but i dont hit him no matter how much he does it. He does kno not to touch outlets and thats from me talking to him but i want to know your opinion on this

  • I THINK ONCE THEY start communicating with you. like if you say no and the acknowledge you but turn and do it anyway then pop there hand. but until they start communicating i dont think theyll understand and everyones baby is differernt
  • @ripkaydence but 6mos?? I understand what you mean but i just think thats to young, they are still babies
  • lol nooo not at 6 month!! llike walking crawling pulling age. my son was pulling up at 6 months and running fully at 8-9 months. he developed really fast physically lol he also understood me and comuntincate like id say, "joe, go get the toy" hed look at me and get it. this was at 8 months. i feel that if they undertsnad you and can do simple commands or tasks and they understand no then when you say no but they do it anyway you can give a lil pop on the hand. that what i did.
  • @ripkaydence oh ok, lol thats true
  • mom2ing wow!!! hat is aweful!! those must be some powerful hits!!!
  • That is horrific!!! That makes me want to cry! I was talking love taps not full on smacks!!
  • Yeah!! That's just aweful! I hate how moms just can't control there anger and take it out on there kids...like seriously count to 10
  • @mom2ing that is sad!!! Idk how ppl can hurt children like that. But my mother use to hit us (me and my siblings) on the hands but only when we touch things we werent suppose too and i learn but still thats wrong! But the age does sound better than 6 months loo
  • @mom2ing makes me angry too!!! Like why helpless ppl, why our own flesh and blood!
  • I know a girl who "popped" her daughters hand all the time, they were constantly purple. I prefer the no, and pulling the toy away or moving their hand away.

  • @Mom2ING
The daughter is older now, she's about 12ish
She lives with her grandmother because her mothers new BF and BD doesn't like the fact she's not his child and doesn't want her under the same roof as him. I think that explains things a little better.
  • First attempt at the whole tagging someone... hope I did it right lol
  • @Mom2ING
    Yea... She's not my friend
She's friends with my SIL and due too her poor parenting I never liked to be around her.
It's sad, but I've seen or heard of a few women choosing men over their children. Having children, when you are a child.
My SIL is also friends with a girl who got an abortion because it was almost summer time and she wanted to party. She kept her next pregnancy because it was directly after summer. She just got married and was busted cheating on her husband (Not her BD) the next day with the best man,
I told my Partner that our children weren't going to the same schools that produced people like this. I don't care if I have to drive two school district's for a good education and better influence's.
I know of too many dead beats. I just choose not too surround myself with them.
  • @fulltimemommy both of those stories are crazy!!! I would NEVER chose a man over my child! And wow! People are so simple these days! My son was a surprise but weather he was born winter summer spring or fall! Ridiculous!!!
