I think I just breastfed Bentley for the last time...

Very bittersweet :( but I barely make enough and now that he has a tooth, he bites and it HURTS! @-) "It won't hurt till they get top and bottom teeth"...my ass! I made it to 6 1/2 months and while I wanted to go to a year, I'm proud of myself for making it this far :) Still feeling a little guilty though...
Words of encouragement?

  • You made it farther than a lot of women do! You *should* be proud. I also feel guilty bc I don't produce enough for dillon...so as he's getting older, the more formula he's getting. I know formula's not bad for them, but I wish I could get enough bm for him. :-( why don't you pump til you're dry? I plan on doing that once I stop bfing dillon.
  • Mam082711, I think I am till I dry up :)
  • Way to go for making it that far! :-)
  • 6 months is fantastic, I remember your also a teen mum so it's rare these days that younger mums bf at all. My goal is to get to 6 months and see how I feel but there have been sooo many times that I have wanted to give up. Congratulations for getting this far!!!
  • Thats awesome i hope to get that far! Im at 3 months now im only feeding him til he gets teeth i cant take him biting me because i have raynods (sp) and it hurts already without him having teeth!
  • 6 1/2 months is awesome. You can teach him not to bite though, and honestly, formula is so expensive. You don't really notice how much your baby eats til it isn't free anymore, I swear. My son's formula was so expensive because he was a preemie, and it physically hurt every time I had to buy it. Lol I think if you have it in you, keep going. Strong work, mama. :)
  • I hope you made good use of the pump stil :) I was rooting for you to stick it out but if it hurts..
  • Do whatever you feel is best Kels. I just wanted to let you know that you can teach him not to bite if you really want to continue. You have been strong willed so far, I'm sure if you want to continue you can make it happen. As far as teaching him not to bite goes, you are suppossed to stick your finger in his mouth to break the latch so you don't hurt yourself, then sternly tell him no. Also, babies bite when they are teething so it may be helpful to offer him something to chew on or make sure he is comfortable before feeding.
  • Good job! You made it much further than I did. He got the best for the most important time of his young life. It made me feel guilty too but I know I did the absolute best. You sound like an amazing mother :)
  • I made it 8 months. Ava quit on her own. She got 2 teeth and a cold at the same time. She only bit me a few times. It wasnt bad tho. You did good!
