I worked in a phone shop for 3 years before going on mat leave so honestly I can tell you that they are both good phones, and it really comes down to personal preference. I would suggest going to a store and playing with both to get a feel of them.
I have an htc evo and love it. However, im a huge apple fan. I love my ipad2 and love the ipod touch so i really want an iphone. I havent gotten it yet tho because its only 3g. Im hoping the next will b 4g. The galaxy looks pretty cool tho.
I Have the iphone 4s and i love it, ive had it for about a month now, and i cant seem to put it down. but samsung phones arent bad either, I know they are very durable.
I do tech support for androids, personally I would get the galaxy. The camera is amazing and also mentioned above you get more free apps. I also have an "alternative" market where even paid apps are free. Androids are open source which means so much can be done with them, I can sit on my phone and from my phone watch/control what my daughter is doing on the laptop. I can literally see where she is going also control the mouse...kinda crazy! I use it too for trips for netflix...for the Kids:) It also can run multiple apps at once, I've never used Iphone but I never wanted to bc androids have the same things. The galaxy especially with the screen and camera make it ten times more appealing:) BTW my son threw mine across TGI Fridays it landed on their hard floor and works great still:)
