WTF with the cartoons these days!

edited February 2012 in Current Events
So I was watching old school looney tunes with my LO and after that this show called 'Almost naked animals' came on..This seriously made me say WTF?! Here is a pic

Photobucket

Yep thats right ...they are animals that walk around in just panties and underwear! I mean how innapropritae is this crap!

And then I was flipping thru the channels later in the day and paused on an episode of Ed, Edd and Eddy and one of them was in a shower with a girl and the shower went all foggy then they show him getting out covered in red lipstick kisses! WTF? I swear what has happened to our kids cartoons?!

Any cartoons that make you moms/dads say WTF?

  • oh yeah i dont let my kid watch this the pink one is weird and when i look at them i start to itch
  • Call me weird, but my daughter is only watching cartoons I grew up on and ones before my time. The garbage they have out right now is ridiculous. The only newer movie she watches and really enjoys is "Tangled".
  • I agree. I do not want my LO watchinv the cartoons from nowadays. Not only are most completely inappropriate and contain alot of inuendos (sp?) but I think they make kids be smart asses and disrespectful. I wanna buy DVD sets of Looney Tunes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles and other ones from back in the day and not let my LO watch the crap on TV.
  • I just cant imagine what was running thru this creators mind when he decided this would be a good cartoon for kids!
  • Those are the grossest things ever! Why does that one have boobs like that?? Me and my bf agreed that our kids are only watching old school stuff.
  • joe watches looney toons and sponge bob the fresh beat band. i hate yo gabba gabba he doesnt watch that one.

  • I suggest nick jr.... if u pay good attention to old cartoons they arent so good either.... not so blunt as that though
  • I recently started recording jetsons & Flintstones. I don't wanna deal with that new crap either!
  • I agree, my kids don't watch these. My son will watch curious George...I have the netflix streaming and they have all curious George episodes...its nice bc you also avoid commercials which I noticed with my daughter (8) she wants EVERYTHING she sees on the commercials. They have other stuff too Timmy time, which I hate but its a bunch of animals running around they don't talk but for some reason my son loves it:)
Like mentioned above the older cartoons aren't so great either, they do reference things that now as an adult make sense...back when I was a kid I didn't get. Cartoons originally weren't meant for kids they were geared to adults not kids. So, it seems that any cartoon may not be so great. I do think Nick Jr is ok and PBS, they have cat in the hat , word girl, curious George, s bunch of others that kids learn from.
  • That's one of the reasons we do not have cable television. Just netflix, and of course the internet where if I think my son is watching something I wouldn't approve of I can look up the history. Plus no tv or computer in his room, just dvds. Granted it is not a sure fire way of keeping him away from all of that, he hears about it from other kids and his father allows him to watch whatever and even play r rated video games. Smh ... On a side note the little bat (?) in the picture is super cute.

And a lot of the old time cartoons are not as innocent as we remember, Ren and Stimpy is down right dirty and Animaniacs as an adult has a lot of things I didn't get as a child.
  • After looking this show up on wiki it sounds like a harmless nonsense show. All animals are naked so to put underwear on them is using something to get a few cheap giggles out of a kid. Hell, I remember seeing bugs bunny in woman's undies, and the shower! Not to mention how many times he held pin up girls in front of elmer fudds' binoculars.
  • I suggest bubble guppies, its adorable and has really great little songs. I agree that most of it is crap, but me and my husband love that one
  • I feel the same way! Cartoon Network is a no go in my house! My son only watches Curious George, Mickey Mouse Club house & PBS Sprout. I only watch what I want when he isn't here or asleep. Cartoons these days are a mess and they give off the wrong message to small children.....ridiculous! I'm glad I'm not the only parent who noticed the shows on Cartoon Network.
  • My daughter only likes mickey mouse clubhouse
  • I only let my Lo's watch the sprout channel. I have yet to see any questionable cartoons or there. It's really good and they are all learning and manner oriented.
  • We had bad tv shows growing up, i wasn't allowed to watch ahh! Real monsters, ren and stimpy, or courage the cowardly dog. As a parent you have to teach your children what is appropriate or put blocks on those channels.
  • Wow I am glad that I am not the only one that thinks that show is inappropriate! Although, I agree with a lot of you ladies that the old cartoons arnt much better..infact that was what I was saying to my husband as we were watching looney tunes!

When Ollie is older, its just going to be Nick Jr and Sprout! My youngest sister (8yrs) looooves Sprout!

  • David is only allowed to watch nick jr (it used to be noggin). However, since going back to work, I think his father has been letting him watch other channels. He wss talking about spongebob yesterday, and ive never allowed him to watch that show. If I find out for sure my husband has been going against my wishes, hes going to be in the doghouse! Lol

  • @armahnismommy you saw it on nick jr!? Holy crap it was cartoon network here...if its in nick jr to I am ginna have to rethink that channel
  • @armahnismommy I'm pretty sure I love it almost more than my daughter does. I end up singing the songs all day at work. The little 'line up line up' song and the 'its time for lunch' song are just so catchy
