Infection or WORSE

edited February 2012 in Health
So i totally didn't notice since i been on my period, but im peeing bright red blood. Its not just a little, its alot. I've never had a uti in my life and I've never peed blood. I have some discomfort while peeing but not really pain. And i got pressure in the left side of my back. To me it sounds like a kidney infection. Also i been peeing quite often and when i have to go, I HAVE TO GO NOW. i scared myself with google by putting in my symptoms all those symptoms plus me being fatigued it told me bladder cancer or kidney cancer. I know not to get wrapped up in google and the only one to take a definite answer from is my dr. I just want opinions ladies please. Would you guess infection or something worse. Cancer runs really strong in my family. Especially women.

  • @Jdensma its not cloudy or smelly just bright red blood.
  • When my friend had a uti she had the same symptoms your having
  • Well I'm gonna try to take care of this the drug free way. Lots of water and cranberry juice.
  • Get your butt to the doctors/urgent care. I can tell you that kidney problems are no walk in the park. I have stage 2 kidney disease and my urologist worries about microscopic blood in my pee. If it is something with your kidney, your infection/problem has progressed to an unsafe level and will only get worse if untreated. I don't know if you read, but if it's kidney/bladder cancer, and you see visible blood, you are unlikely to get rid of it since blood happens in the latter stages.

Now, for some better bad news. It sounds like kidney stones or a kidney infection. The stone could be caught in a place that it is having trouble passing through. Usually if there's not a TON of abdominal pain, the stone is pressing hard to get to your bladder. To help the stone along, increase your water intake to 1 gallon a day. In either case, see your doctor. Kidney stones are painful and you will need medication. They may even start an infection. Take a trip to the ER if you don't have a doctor. Very important to get kidney problems taken care of quickly.

  • Its hard for me to even get one of my lo to a dr let alone myself
  • Do it. I wasn't born with kidney disease. It happened when I left a kidney infection untreated when I contracted e. Coli in March 2006.
  • Peeing bright red blood is not normal. I've had about 10 uti's in my life and I have never had bright red blood. You need to be seen ASAP. You can't diagnose yourself from Google.
  • It sounds like you have progressed way beyond the point of cranberry juice and water fixing this. You only have 1 body and your babies need you, go to your doctor before something worse happens
  • I'd go to the Dr right away, I get uti's alot since my son was born two years ago and never peed blood from it.
  • Please take this seriously and get it checked out
  • I had this same thing happen to me back in 2010 when I was in my first trimester. Turns out it was just a UTI. Best thing you can do is get it checked out so that they can treat it. Get your butt in lady! LOL
