Need advice

edited March 2012 in Babies Health
My lo is almost 5 mo on April 2nd. I just got a letter in the mail with paperwork dating from December. It said that her neonatal screening results came back as an insufficient sample and needed redone. My thinking is why are they just now sending this to me?? I called the number it gave and asked for the person listed. I was put on hold for 8 1/2 minutes then sent to voicemail. I left a msg. Havent been able to get hold of anyone for 2 days. Guessing its not that important? Should I continue to even bother?

Yes, the letter was from the pediatrician who was at the hospital when she was born. But it is not our current pediatrician. It said to contact one of the nurses in the office, but the office staff is not being helpful. And according to the paperwork they found out in December and waited until now to contact me. I guess my biggest question is, is it that important to pursue especially if they dont seem to care?
  • Do they think or did they think something is wrong? If your baby is 5 months old, im confused about what they feel they need to be testing for
  • I would keep trying. It's always better to b safe than sorry. Just in case they are falling behind.
  • Yes get it checked....that tests for things that could lead to problems later on in life, so even if your baby is healthy and fine, you still need that done. Those tests are done to every newborn, if it turns out your baby had a predisposition, wouldn't you want to know before it was a potential problem? Rather than find out when it is a problem. I'm sure your baby is perfectly fine :) but these tests are necessary. Sorry you have to deal with them ignoring you though :/
  • That happened to me also i recieved a letter from the state a couple of weeks after she was born stating that they did not have enough blood to run all the test so i had to bring her back to get retested and everything was fine came back normal so yes u should definantly have her retested thats crazy how they waited this long!!!!
