  • Yeah. Its not in you butt its right above it, like lower back. Then depending on the babys blood type when its born you get another one. They give that one thru youre iv though. I'm o-, my first was o+ so I had to get a shot in my hip bone. Mt second was also o+ but I got the rogam thru my iv. Youll be fine
  • I had to get it and its nothing. Mine was above my butt in the love handle area. Don't stress about it you will be fine!
  • O- I had to get it with last pregnancy because of some bleeding at 8 weeks then I had one more after that. Can't remember which week. But my son has same blood type as me so I did not have to have the one after he was born. The shot really isn't a big deal though! Don't worry! :)
  • Yeah, I am B- and any woman thats RH factor is negative has to have a Rhogam shot at 28-29 weeks and then another within 72 hours after delivery. Same if you have a miscarriage.
-Hunny, if you can have a baby...you can handle a shot. ;)

I have been a diabetic since I was 3 years old. Took 4-6 shots a day till about 8-9 years ago, then I got an insulin pump. I am almost 22. Obviously, shots don't bother me...but I could see where you might be a little frightened by it.
If shots bother you, just turn your head and breath in and then out when they give it to you.
  • I am pregnant for the 6 th time, but lost baby #5 in miscarriage, and all my pregnancy during and after I had to receive the Rhogam shot. I am A- and all my babies were of a different blood type than me, except this one I am only 16 weeks so I haven't gotten to where I need the shot yet. It is in your upper buttocks area, I've never heard of it being given in an IV though. I've been getting them since 1997- 2010 so its been the same everytime for me with differnet hopsitals and doctors. THe shot has been in the same location. But its nothing to worry about and it is pretty common. Good thing you know about it for you and your baby. Good luck to you and your little one.
  • I had one with my first pregnancy and they gave it to me in my shoulder... Maybe my doctor did it wrong
  • I mean upper arm not shoulder sorry.
  • @Melinda326 I just delivered a baby in july, and they literally just started the rhogam in an iv. So its brand new, but very convenient
  • I'm B- so I get rhogam also.....but I thought it was in my upper arm also.
  • Im a- and as long as ur hubby is neg too ur baby wnt b + so i got them a paper from a dr staten his blood type and i didnt have to get it with my 2nd but my 1st i did cuz i didnt no if i had proof of us both bein neg
