Tips, Tricks 8 Exercises? Please Advise!!!

edited March 2011 in Third Trimester
Just going into my 3rd trimester, with my first. Looking for what kind of stuff I can do to make labour easier and more pain-free. I know about kegels, (although don't know how many to do, nor how long to hold them for!) Are there other things I can do!?
Please suggest what you can!!!

  • For the kegals. I read to hold them for 10 seconds and do it 10 times for 3 times a day. Also walking will strengthen your muscles and your breathing. Breathing is a huge part of labor.
  • @brileighsmommy Oh good to know about the kegels. I was doing more per day, but only holding for a few seconds. The walking is good enough for the breathing?! Or is there more to it?
  • Try doing squats it helps ur inmer muscles or just stay in a squat position for a minute n then relax do it only twice a day
  • I've also been sitting indian style every time I sit. They say it helps your muscles too. And butterfly stretches before bed. My sister also said to do pelvic rocks where your on your hands and knees and rock your hips up and down. It helps with the back pain too. :) if you can't hold the kegals for 10 seconds just work your way up to it. I'm only at 7 seconds so far. Lol. And you can actually do as many as you want. My doc said to do them just whenever I think about it. Hope this helps some.
  • @soccer_gurl23 why do the squats only twice a day? I've been told to just squat down anytime I need to get anything low. Hope I'm not messing up. :S

  • And boooy do I work up a sweat!! Which is good bc I've gained 15lbs at only 16weeks!
  • @lily_glz ha don't worry. I've gained almost 50 pounds. I'm 32 weeks. I don't look like I've gained that much because before I got preg I was about 20 pounds under weight. But I've been walking and doing yoga-pilates as often as I can.
