any lawyers or people that have been through this??

Long story short..my parents got a divorce almost 4 yrs ago. My father cheated on my mom along with some other things. Later he and my mom agreeed on that he would pay for any payments or bills that needed to be and everyone including their lawyers had signed it.

Well obviously my dad didn't hold up to that promise and would always "hide" from everything and now has ran off to Florida somewhere with his mistress(now wife). Now there are PIs stalking my mom and calling her at work claiming that a bank is suing her over the unpaid bills that my dad should have paid. She is having bill collectors call her left and right. She tried to get them off ger back with letters her lawyer typed up saying that my dad must pay and to find him. (Costing her about $1000 that she DOESNT have). So now my mom has to pay lawyer retainer fees($2500) and he told her that "they don't honor divorce decrees" WTF?!!

So does anyone have advice. Ive tried getting my dads address but he hasn't told me anything but that he lives 2 hours from Orlando. I know hes my dad but I'm about to write him a very angry letter on his facebook to see what the hell is going on....

Nope. She can take him to small claims court if the divorce decree stated that he was to be responsible for the debt or pay her for the debt, but because the debt was marital debt, they are both equally responsible and there's really nothing she can do.

She should pay it in order for it to not hit her credit too harshly and then sue him.

Thanks that's what I'm finding on the Internet too. I honestly think she just needs to file bankruptcy since her credit is already in the s***** but I cant tell her that
