question about development

edited May 2012 in Babies Health
A friend of mines baby is scared of everything. Like real loud sounds mainly where as mine isn't. They are only a month apart she is 5 months Makenzie is 6. Also her child like thumps her leg a lot and Makezie does do that either.
Do either of those things mean anything? Like developmental wise? Any idea?

  • I don't think so. Being startled by loud noises could be a sign of an auditory issue, or sensory issue, but I don't think it's related to developmental delays or anything like that. I'd speak with your doctor and see what they have to say.
  • Every baby is different. I could mean nothing. My daughter is 8mos and not crawling yet, but my friends daughter who was born 2 days after mine had been crawling since 6mos....and my daughter is not delayed at all. My daughter also flails her arms alot, but that's just her when she gets excited. I wouldn't worry at all. Some babies are just more sensitive than others. :)
  • All babies are different my friends daughter and my daughter are a month apart my daughter is 7 months hers is 6 and my daughter can crawl and stand up and do a lot of things but her daughter can't. Her daughter has teeth and mine don't.
