swollen and severe pain

I had veneers done last Thursday. All weekend everything was great. Monday morning I woke up and one tooth hurt so bad. I went to the dentist, she filled it down thinking it was my bite. Tuesday, I woke up swollen on my left side of my face and in pain. Today the swelling is worse and more painful :( I kinda regret the veneers now. I didn't pay $8000 to look like this

    It's not normal hun. Didn't you say you got antibiotics? I hope it starts to help because it definitely sounds like an infection. I would request steroids to help with the inflammation.

    @captivated yes they gave me antibiotics. It got.worse since yesterday tho. My husband called another dentist inn Raleigh and they told him I needed to get to my Dr or the er right away!.i'm at my Dr office now

    @captivated I will. I'm waiting now. My husband told me to get documentation of what caused this. We paid a lot of money for the veneers

    @captivated my Dr thinks is cellulitis. They gave me a shot in my butt and another antibiotic..since its so close to my eye. And pain meds

    Is it abscessed? Sounds like it is, cellulitis is caused from adscesses which would mean u need a root canal...

    They said its not. They did am xray of my teeth Monday when it was just sore, not swollen @0811

    Sometimes even with pain if it is just beginning to go bad it will not show up on an xray, if it continues, go back and get another one or go to an endodontist for evaluation.. be careful it can be bad (if its abscessed).. good luck.. also look above that tooth on the gums if u see a "sore" or a "bump" that is a fistula and definetly means an abscess (but not all abcesses will form a fistula)

    Cellulitis is caused from bacteria entering a cut or sore. It can be very serious so i'm on 2 antibiotics plus the shot they gave me

    @0811 my gums don't hurt at all. My tooth barely hurts anymore. Just my face is swollen up to my eye

    I had cellulitis after having my gallbladder removed. What antibiotics did they give you?

    Just be very very careful, if the swelling closes ur eye go back to dentist for eval, or er for stronger IV antibiotics.. good luck and keep me posted on how u r doing. By the way how is Amber doing?

    @tryin4babymoore I have amoxicillin and clindamycin. I don't remember the one they shot in my butt cheek

    @0811 thank you and I will keep you updated. I have a follow up tomorrow morning with my regular Dr. As far as I know Amber is doing good. I haven't talked to her in awhile

    Good im glad ur going back tomorrow, ask about a possible abscess... just was thinking about her an wondered how she was :)

    Omg no...that's what they gave me. Do NOT take clindamycin. It gave me c-diff. Google it...it's very common side effect of taking that. Trust me you don't want it. I've been battling with trying to get over c diff for 3 years now and I've taken 4 rounds of the antibiotics to treat it and still can't get it to go away. It got so bad I was hospitalized and the doctors there couldn't believe I was given that medicine and said most don't use it now a days because it has such a high risk of c diff. Please don't take it and talk to your doctor about it.

    Omg...I grew up being taught that family comes first and, well always be there when you need them. BS! My mom won't even come for a couple days to help me out. I have no strength to get up during the night with Jack but oh well huh.

    @0811 my husband is insisting I go to the hospital. He's on his way home to drive me. The swelling around my eye got worse overnight

    @captivated they just did a ct scan of my face and may keep me here awhile since meds aren't working

    @captivated the CT scan showed an abscess. They tried to just numb me to drain it but that didn't work. I just got out of a surgery. They are keeping me overnight on meds and to make sure the swelling goes down. If it does, I'll go home tomorrow afternoon. My friend is keeping Jack overnight and my husband is staying home with Connor. My in laws are getting both boys tomorrow for the weekend so I can get some rest

    Yikes... hope ur feeling better.. yes with an abscess its very hard to get numb cuz the abscess prevents it... wow im very sorry it turned out this way :( sorry i havent been on until now.. work sucked and i sat in atl traffic for 2 hrs..what r they saying??
