Help plz....long

Hiya. I dont normally post i just like to read about everyones beautiful babies but the time has come where i need some advice so i hope someone can help. My baby girl holly was born last sept she was perfect
days overdue and a healthy 8,3oz. Ever since she was born she has suffered with extreme colic. She wad put on special easy digest formula ftom 2weeks old by the health visitor (here in the uk we have health visitorswho regularly check up on ur baby). She seemed to be going great on that and was gainin weight. When she reached 6 months i started to wean her and she refused everytjin so decided she wasnt ready so i waited a few more months and still nothing her weight had thren dropped from the 75th to the 25th %ile and health visitor/doctors were not happy. I explained to them it was like she still had colic and pain in her stomach she also started projectile vomiting and havin explosive poo (sorry tmi) so the doctor did some tests and they came back that she was lactose intollerent which would explain her stomach pain really bad skin rashes lack of weight gain and refusal of food. She was put onto soy formula which didnt help at all and then was put onto lactose and protine free milk. She was on this for about 6 weeks and was on a dairy free diet. She started to eat more food but still fail to gain weight. More tests were done n i was told she was not lactose intollerant and to go bak onto normal 6month plus follow on formula and normal diet. She has been in this now for a week and its been hell she is constantly miserable and will not sleep at night as shes screaming in pain. Her weight at nearly 9 months is 15 pound which i think is a good weight but im constantly beibg told by doctor she is underweight yet no one will try to find out what is wrong and why she seems to be in so much pain. I just keep getting fobbed off with different medication and while she is bein sick n having explosive nappies (dipers) she still continues to lose and not gain any weight. So has anyone been through similar or have any advice? Anything would b greatly appriciated :-) sorry this is sooo long. Xx

  • *17 days overdue its meant to say up there lol :-\
  • Wow, she was 17 days over due? U poor woman. If i were u i would put her back on the soy formula if it was helping some. Then demand the drs find out what is going on. 15 pounds at 9months is a bit small. Demand that u know something is wrong. Ive heard lots of great things about colic babies going to a chiropractor. I hope u and ur baby girl get some releif soon.
  • Try donated breast milk if you can?

right, first of all, my cousins baby is one next week and is only 17lbs. small yes, but not a major worry. as for the HV, can you request a different one? were the tests done at the hospital and have you been given a follow up or just referred back to the gp? Are there any kinds of foods that bubs takes that dont cause her pain, maybe stick with those for now?? As for milk, have you tried maybe mixing a rusk with it so that whatever she does manage to keep down, itl be giving her some extra calories?... so sorry to hear you n little one r going through this, drs here can be a bloody nightmare!
  • @mommyof3girls yes she was very late lol. The soy formula didnt seem to make any difference and she was put on something called pepti juniour and was prescribed by thr dr. And as second tests came bak clear i am not going to get anymore. But there was no lactose in her test speciamin as she was on a lactose free diet. Oh will have to look into the chiropracter thing. Ty :-)

@joshneviesmum yes i hav seen many different health visitors which is why im so confused as some of them say to keep her on dairy free diet against what the dr says. The dr wanted to admit her to the hospital but after results came back clear he made up his mind that i was lazy and just couldnt be bithered to wean her. Needless to say i will not take my daughter back to see him. I am now waiting on appointments for dietician and paediatrician but im goin nuts waiting and seeing her like this.yes there is food she loves veg n fruit and even the odd portion of homemade fried rice she knows how to chew properly and loves toast and finger foods but im now limited as what i can giv her as everythin contains milk she doea love rusks tho but again if i giv her milk im making her ill :-( im stuck as to wat to do. Thank u for ur suggestions and ur right docs here are nightmares lol x
  • Oh and she doesnt seem small for her age at all just lightweight shes on the 75th for height and i wont say she is chunky but she is no skinny thing lol x

how about making her up rusks with water? ive done it a few times with Evie n she takes it just the same. it must be so frustrating with every one telling you to do different stuff. petsonally, unless it was a paediatric dr who u saw, id ask for a second opinion from a diff gp at the practice, and in the meantime just follow the HV's suggestions, coz they probably deal with it more regularly than the drs anyway. Also, im no expert at all, but i think ive heard @ashley_smashley and @bahamamama4828 say that almond milk does wonders, i think after a year is recommended as a main milk but maybe you could start introducing it in small amounts? Good luck hon, hope u get it sorted xx
  • Prjectile spit up/ vomiting? Ask about pyloricstinosis(sp?) Its where a muscle is growing over a valve in the stomach. My niece had bad projectile vometing and that's what was wrong. She had surgery at a month old and is good as new.
  • How does your LO do with regular food? If I were you I would get a second, third, fourth opinion until SOMEONE gives you a good answer.
