FPIES**

ANYONE HAVE A LO WITH FPIES? NO IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PIE, LOL. It's a food protein allergy.

  • Has Lauren been diagnosed with this?
  • I thought my son had it at one point and so did the doctors. but they ruled it out as just being a slight protein intolerance that he will hopefully grow out of. But its very scary and hard to find food that he can eat.
  • It's a possibility. We are looking into it with a gstroenterontologist this next month once her pedi refers us to one closer. We go back on July 6th to tell him we found one 15 minutes away vs hour and 20 minutes away like the one he originally referred us to.
  • Aww poor Lauren. I hope you guys get answers and get her the help she needs so she can enjoys food
  • Lauren has the classic delayed vomiting ny 2 hours and signs of shock with certain foods. Right now she only can handle formula, green beans and rice cereal. She will be
9 months on the 2nd and started slowly introducing foods since 5.5 months.
    Bananas
    Banana flavored mum mums
    Carrots
    Sweet potatoes
    Yams
    Prunes
    Apples
All make her projectile vomit , but 2 hours after eating. She throws up for 2-3 hours at a time. Then her limbs get cold and she loses color. It's very very scary.
  • @jaymasynsmommy I just read all your posts!! I too have been wondering about the birthday cake thing. I'm so sad my daughter can't eat anything! It breaks my heart to see her so interested in food, but she can't have it. How old is your son?
  • he is 11 months and he has had reactions to the same way you describe it since 4 months. Scariest thing ever. I know exactly how you feel i hate they he cant just eat what im having and that i have to limit it. And that he doesn't get to have a birthday cake makes me wanna cry. but we are gonna do apple sorbet and cherry sorbet since those arent trigger foods. if you need someone to talk to just let me know.
  • I'm so glad I found you! I'll be posting on here more often again with updates. The sorbets sound like a great idea. We will have to see how things go with Lauren.

  • Aww poor honey!! How sad :(
  • when do you go to the gastroenterologist??
  • @mrs4c I dont know who to feel more sorry for... you or your LO. I cant imagine having to see my LO go through feeling miserable like that.. Awwww sorry to hear that.
  • She has her Appointment on Friday. My mil will be in town so I'm nervous about things. She's a wonderful nana and I hope that whatever happens at the appointment she doesn't freak out. She will be living with us for the week she is here. My mom even is unaware of the full seriousness of what happens. She tries to understand, but hasn't seen it happen so they both complicate things I guss.I'd rather have thus appointment with just my husband and have our own time to take whatever in and report back to them in a day or so.
  • Thanks YNVTish. It's so heartbreaking . I have to be positive though. A lot of kids have things worse. Lauren at least is growing properly. It is gone just being on formula for now, but in a few months when she'll start needing more nutrition is what scares me. In extreme cases, some kids need feeding tubes with FPIES. The best case scenario is that we will just need to start an elimination diet, but that's even scary because every single food has a risk of having her react the way she is now to solid foods.
  • Fine not gone.
  • How did the appointment go??
  • I've been trying to log in and just was successful. Lauren was pit on an elimination diet for now. We will be on it for about a month and go from there. They may do a,scope on her if she still is reacting the same way to her current trigger foods.
