baby with fever...could it be? ***UPDATE***

edited July 2012 in Babies Health
My lo has a fever of 102.4 (under the arm), is not sleep well n is really fussy, can it be from teething? I called the doc earlier today n they said if Tylenol helps n there's a break in the fever then I don't have to bring her in but how long am I supposed to sit n wait this fever to go away?

  • Bump! I don't know hun but there is a bump for you
  • @aubreysmommy thanks sweetie
  • Usually a teething g fever isn't that high. The Tylenol should bring the fever down in 30-45 min.,,if not your LO may need to go in.
  • Alternate between Tylenol and Motrin
  • @ashley_smashley it did go down a lil
    @newmomma k thanks hon.
  • take her and because my little 1 was running of that have a fever and it ended up being a throat and ear infection
  • @squirt299 her pediatricians office is closed but if she has one tomorrow I'm going to take her in. How long did ur lo have a fever n was he showing any signs of an ear infection?
  • @squirt299 is right, I would still take her in to your doc. Ollie has had a fever off and on since Saturday and we have spent two days in the hospital and they still don't know what's wrong...
  • @ashley_smashley aw I'm sorry to hear that. What's the highest his fever gotten?
  • Aw..I hope he feels better! @ashley_smashley
  • Thanks! His fever is down now, but they are still running test..sucks being in the hospital! I hope your LO gets better soon!
  • Nope. High fevers are not a symptom of fever. You little one is fighting off some kind of infection, viral or bacterial. But fever is a good sign :) just not a prolonged one that doesnt come down with Tylenol and Motrin.
  • I was telling someone else on here....two weeks ago this happened to my daughter for almost four days...two trips to the er and one doctors visit she had roseola...there isn't anyway to know for sure that is what it is until they break out in a rash...but long and short.of it, they run a pretty high fever and are really fussy for between three and five days... And than they break out in a red rash starting on the core of their body...nothing helped kenzies fever...tried everything...just try and make lo comfy...I did a lot of luke warm baths....just something to keep an eye on...good luck! :)
  • @coltensmama what exactly is roseola?
@captivated I gave her some meds n her fever goes down but goes right back up after a couple of hrs. How long should I let this go on before taking her in?
  • @coltensmamma what did the rash look like
  • I would give it 24 hrs. It all depends on what you're comfortable with.
  • It doesn't bump really if that make sense....its more under the skin but just red spots....they can last from just a few hrs to a few days...kenzies started on her core, but were the worst on her face...hers spread really quickly and within an hour she was covered...it was strange, they just come out of no where...luckily tho hers only were there about a day and than faded
  • I hope she feels better!!!
  • @Ashley_smashley @captivated @coltensmama @squirt299 @newmomma I took Kay to the doc today n they said she has a viral infection. They said her throat was a lil red but nothing to be too concerned about but if she continues not feel well n still has a fever by Mon to bring her back in.
  • Did they give her meds?
  • @squirt299 no they told me to continue to give her Motrin/Advil n that I could do what @newmomma said by switching between that n Tylenol. She still doesn't feel well tho. As soon as the meds r about to wear off she starts getting fussy n her temp goes right back up.
  • Hope ur baby gets better my Lil Guy also has fever poor babys
  • U welcome I hope she feels better soon!
  • @roxy thanks hon I hope ur lo gets better soon as well
  • Like @captivated said, fever is not always the enemy. As long as it's not too high, it's the body's way of killing the infection. Hope she gets better soon though!
  • How long ur baby had a fever
  • @roxy today will make day 3 it has gone down tho. Today she had. Slight fever but was still a lil fussy. After giving her some more meds she was doing ok.
