How hard are these to pronounce?

Ok, so I've mentioned before that I want Greek names for my baby. I haven't come up with a middle name for a boy, but I want his first name to be *Achilles*. If I have a girl, the first name will be *Pandora* and the middle name will either be *Briseis* or *Valkyrie*. Personally, I think the only two that are hard to pronounce are Achilles and Briseis unless you studied Homer's Iliad in high school or college.

    i read it and never felt like i was saying those names right.. heck i cant even remember how my english teacher pronounced them.. but there are plenty of kids out there with names that are hard to pronounce. i remember in high school we had a set of twin boys in the grade under me.. i swear this is the truth... whose mother named them Te Shawn and Te Shawn.. one was Tay-Shawn and the other was Tee-Shawn.. their mother thought it was cute.. confused everyone! but they had no problem letting the teacher know how to pronounce their names. im sure your baby wont either.

    @mama_kat aislin is a pretty common name in ireland well at least in my generation it was.. now all the names are becoming more americanised!

    @purple89 lol. That's what everyone says. I'm like, "Um, sure. I was gonna name my son after the hero tho." In mythology, Achilles was held in the river Styx by his mom to make him invincible. She held him by the heel, so that was his only weak spot.
    @mama_kat Briseis was Achilles' love. She's only mentioned in the beginning and pretty breifly at that.

    This very issue is y my children are Gregory, Abby, and Jacob, lol!! If u can mess those up, u better have a speech problem.

    All I can say is my name is Jayde Ogin, and just about everyone screws it up. My daughter is Allison Rose & my soon-to-be daughter will be Samantha Louise. Having a name no one can pronounce gets really, really old & can be embarrassing when you're young... I wouldn't wish it on anyone :( ... and I promise I'm not trying to be a jerk!

    I wanted to know if the names I picked are so out there that nobody can pronounce them. It seemed to me that Achilles and Pandora are common enough in today's culture that people would recognize them. I wanted to see how many of the ladies on here had problems with them. I don't think you're being a jerk! Just offering advice. :)

    @victoriab even if you've never read the books, these names pop up now and again in hollywood movies. Briseis would be the less common.

    Lol I can pronounce them, but I like reading and def read homer twice in school soo.. Only people that need to be able to pronounce it should be ur kids teacher. And if they cant well...they probably shouldnt be teachin lol :p

    @suziq totally. Tom Cruise was just in a movie called Valkyrie, Brad Pitt played Achilles in Troy, and Pandora was the name of the planet in Avatar. I really liked Briseis and saw it in a baby name book. The book was talking about the name "Breezy" and how its roots are from Briseis. It didn't recommend Briseis, oddly enough.
    For those of you wondering, Briseis is pronounced "Br-eye-see-us".

    I think they are easy to say. I pronounced them fine. But i've heard them before in movies and stories. My name in kara... its not hard to say at all but you wouldn't believe some of the ways people pronounce it lol

    @barbie Lol. Close enough ;D Greek words and names are pretty funky. I saw a weird alternate spelling for Achilles that was spelled kinda like Akyllyz. Wtf...

    I think I have a easy name and no one ever gets it right its Leah "Lee-ahh" but I'm Greek and I think your names are easy to say and I would love having a name no one has or is commen....
