  • It all depends on your state and what insurance you have, honestly. Probably some paperwork, maybe schedule you for a first-trimester ultrasound, ask you lots of questions, set you up for a prescription for prenatal vitamins (possibly), weigh you, take your bloodpressure, possibly check for a heartbeat. My nurse checked for my baby's heartbeat first cuz I was supposed to be 11 weeks and 4 days... turns out I was 13 weeks and some days, instead, cuz she could hear the heartbeat and it was higher up. You wont be able to hear the heartbeat with a dopplar til at least 12 weeks, so unless you have a reason, they might not check heartbeat yet and just schedule you for a first-trimester ultrasound. I missed mine, unfortunately. Good luck!
  • Oh, yeah... the lab work. Thanks, @FirstTimeMommyToBe, I forgot about that. Blood drawn is pretty standard. Tho no one told me about that! I have a severe phobia of needles and bawled my eyes out before she even stuck me. Lucky my momma was there to chill me out a little bit.

  • Well they gave me a Vaginal u/s when for my first visit I seen it and heard its lil! heart beat it looks like a tadpole lol
  • @FirstTimeMommyToBe Lol! Yeah, I didn't know that, either. I've only got one tattoo, and I'm not even getting another one of those. I had convinced myself that the needle wasn't the same, so it wasn't really a needle. I convinced myself that the needle for the tattoo was like some sort of fringed thing. My phobia of normal needles comes from when I was younger, I had an overly active imagination and I thought up on the way to the dr's office one day: When the needle goes through the skin, it obviously has to take like a tube of skin with it... it doesn't just push it out of the way, does it??? But where does that skin go? They don't pull the needle out and push it out... OMG! THEY PUSH IT INTO YOUR BODY!

I was like, 3 when I figured that out. Mom says I was a smart child, but I think that I just had an overactive imagination. lol. I've feared needles ever since.

Oh, and thinking about it... I got my tattoo when pregnant. ^^; I got pregnant sometime in November, got my tattoo December 18th (implantation bleeding lasted 9 days, so I thought it was a period. >.<).... it would explain why I bled like a stuck pig. >_>
  • But yeah lot of paper work blood work then they set you for another apparently later you get a script for prego pills good luck wish you the best

  • I had my first appointment at 6 weeks all they did was get medical history blood pressure weight and gave me some books and pamphlets. Also got me started on rx prenatals. They scheduled my ultrasound for 4 days later. We saw the heartbeat and little baby but it was too early to hear. I just went for my 10week appointment and got to hear it with a doppler.
  • My first appointment was at 6w1d. They weighed me, blood pressure, urine sample, pap smear, 7 viles of blood, and vaginal ultrasound. We got to see the heartbeat but too soon to hear it.
  • Do daddys come to the first visit? I would like my husband to go.
