I think it is different everywhere. It seems like most people on this forum get what seems like a lot of ultrasounds to me. My doctor only does one at like 20 weeks, unless you are high risk. My clinic also does not have a u/s machine so I have to go to the hospital or another clinic for one, which might explain why my doctor only wants to do one.
@jbandno3 My doctor also doesn't have one in her office so I have to go to the hospital too...but as long as I get to see my little "blob" as I call it bcuz its still so small I'm happy.
@jbandno3 I've heard of only getting 2 ultrasounds but not 1. Doctor's are supposed to do an early ultrasound before 12 weeks to verify your due date. Once you get past 16 weeks it gets harder to pin point an exact date. How far along are you? I would look into that because I've never had less then 3 per pregnancy.
I am only suppose to have one ultrasound as well for the whole time at 19 weeks. I have already had it. They said that my insurance (medicaid) will only pay for one us unless there is severe medical reason that I have to
@starkrayzie I am 12 weeks, I am sure of my dates because we were ttc. If I had been unsure I am certain I would have been able to get a u/s to confirm dates.
@starkrayzie this is baby #3 for me, with my first two I only had one scheduled around 20 weeks. with my first I ened up with 3 because they thought there was something wrong with DDs heart, but all was well after seeing a specialist.
@1sttimepreggo I would guess all is well each doctor has their own preference and reasons for how many ultrasounds they do. I wouldn't stress too much unless your doctor seems concerned.
I have medicaid too, and I have had like 6 already. I am 31 weeks, but I was considered high risk at first, now they keep doing them for cervical length
